Managing Financial Workbook Templates

Intro

The “Financial Workbook Templates” page allows you to manage all aspects of the trial balance definition(s), calculation sheet(s) and financial statement template(s) you create in association with a particular financial workbook.

Tasks

    1. Expand the ArcReporting “Structure Templates” .

    3. Click the “Add” at lower-right of the page to define and add the workbook template.

      1. Specify to create a completely new template, or to base the new template on a previously-created template.

        1. Select the “Blank Template” option (default) to create a new, blank template.

          1. Click the “Complex” drop-down list to specify the complex with which the new financial workbook template will be associated.

            Once the workbook template has been saved, the specified complex cannot be changed.

          2. Enter a “Template Name” and “Description” for the new workbook template.

            Once the workbook template has been saved, you can change the specified name and description at any time by clicking the “Edit selected record” button at right of the “Template Name” drop-down list in the upper portion of the page.

        2. Select the “Copy Existing Template” option to create a template based on an existing template in the database.

          1. Use the “Source Complex” drop-down list to specify the complex with which the workbook template to be copied is associated.
          2. Use the “Source Template” drop-down list to select the appropriate template from those associated with the specified source complex.
          3. Click the “Target Complex” drop-down list to select the appropriate target complex for the new workbook template.

        3. Select the “Import” option to create a template whose properties and settings match those of an existing template that has been exported to a file of XML format.

          1. Select your import file using the “Browse” button at right of the “Source File” field.
          2. Specify the complex with which the new workbook template will be associated via the “Target Complex” drop-down list.

          1. Edit the newly-copied template’s “Template Name” and “Description” as appropriate via the “Edit selected record” button at right of the “Template Name” drop-down list.

          1. Edit the newly-imported template’s “Template Name” and “Description” as appropriate via the “Edit selected record” button at right of the “Template Name” drop-down list.
        4. Add trial balances, calculation sheets, financial statement templates and other settings, as applicable, via their corresponding tabs in the lower portion of the page.

    4. Click the “Settings” in the lower portion of the page to specify entities and settings to be associated with the workbook template.
      1. Click the “Chart” drop-down list at the top of the tab to specify the general ledger chart of accounts with which the workbook template will be associated.
      2. Click the “Primary Rounding Level” drop-down list to specify the primary level to which numeric data for items in the workbook template will be rounded.
      3. Click the “Secondary Rounding Level” drop-down list to specify the secondary level to which numeric data for items in the workbook template will be rounded.
      4. Click the “Financial Footnote Library” drop-down list to specify the footnote library for use by statements associated with the template.
      5. Click the “Calendar” drop-down list to specify the calendar statements associated with the template will use to determine business days and non-business days in the reporting period.
      6. Select the “Auto reclass items during first calculation” check box to cause account reclass logic to be carried out for all items in the current template’s trial balance definition(s) that have their respective “Auto Reclass Account” check boxes selected, the first time any workbooks using the template are calculated.
      7. Select the “Consolidated workbook” check box to denote that the template is for consolidated workbooks.

      8. Drag-and-drop the fund(s) that will use the new workbook template from the “Available Funds” at right of the “Settings” tab to the “Funds using this financial workbook template” pane at left.
        • Of the funds using the general ledger chart associated with the workbook template, only those that have not already been assigned to another template will display in the “Available Funds” pane.
        • The fund order specified here determines the fund sequence in statement output (top-to-bottom or left-to-right).

    5. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    5. Click the “Add” at right of the “Definition” field on the “Trial Balance Definitions” tab to add the definition.

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    6. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    As an alternative to manually creating trial balance definition components (i.e., sections, sub-sections and items) via the associated application page, you can import the structure of a trial balance definition, as well as import or update general ledger accounts therein, using an Excel (XLSX) source file. Follow these steps to do so:

    1. Expand the ArcReporting “Structure Templates” .

      1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

      2. Select “ArcReporting” from the .

    4. Click the “Template Name” drop-down list at upper-left of the page to specify the workbook template with which the new trial balance definition will be associated.

    5. Click the “Trial Balance Definitions” tab.

    6. Click the “Definition” drop-down list at upper-left of the tab to specify the trial balance definition for which you wish to import one or more components.

    7. Click the “Get import template” at lower-right of the pane where existing items are listed to retrieve an Excel import file template.

      1. Click the “Open” button to open the template within Microsoft Excel.
      2. Or, click the “Save” button, and then specify a local or network directory in which to store the template.
    8. Use Excel’s “Save As...” command to create your data import file, giving it a unique and meaningful name (e.g., “TrialBalanceDefintionImport_20171231.xlsx”).
    9. Populate your new file with information reflecting the component(s) and account information you’d like to import to a given trial balance definition, and then save it (see the “Trial Balance Definition Import File Structure” table for specifics).

    10. Click the “Import data” at lower-right of the pane where existing items are listed to import data contained in your Excel source file.

  • Calculation sheets are used to derive values for statement line items that are not found on the trial balance, or for standalone backup statements. The basis of these sheets is the calculation of formulas for a specific item.

    Examples where a calculation sheet would be used are Roll-forward calculations, Financial Highlights, Statement of Changes, Capital Shares or Realized and Unrealized Gains/Losses.

    The items that make up a calculation sheet can be created at the fund level or the class level. The fund-level option limits available calculation sheet items to supplemental data items and fund data points only; the class-level option limits available items those found on the trial balance(s), other calculation sheet(s) and fund data points only.

    To create a calculation sheet in a financial workbook template, carry out the following steps.

    1. Expand the ArcReporting “Structure Templates” .

      1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

      2. Select “ArcReporting” from the .

      3. Click the “Administration” at lower-left of the screen.

    3. Click the “Add” at right of the “Column” field on the “Calculation Sheets” tab to define and add the sheet.

      1. Specify to create a completely new calculation sheet, or to base the new sheet on a previously-created sheet.

        1. Select the “Blank Sheet” (default) to create a new, blank calculation sheet.
          1. Provide a calculation sheet “Name” and “Description” (if needed).

          2. Designate a for the new sheet.
            1. Specify “Classes Across” to create a calculation sheet in which each class will be displayed as a separate column in the grid of the “Financial Workbook” page.
            2. Specify “Classes Down” (default) to create a calculation sheet in which each class will be displayed as a separate row in the grid of the “Financial Workbook” page.

            3. Specify to create a calculation sheet in which each currency will be displayed as a separate column in the grid of the “Financial Workbook” page.

              1. Select the associated “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” check box (default state) to cause the fund’s base currency to be excluded from currency totals.

                • The base currency of a fund corresponds to the “Currency Code” specified on the “Fund Information” tab of the “Funds” page.
                • Any financial account balance not loaded to the currency level is assumed to be denominated in the fund’s base currency.
                • Any holdings balance value without a “Currency Code” is assumed to be denominated in the fund’s base currency.

            4. Specify to create a calculation sheet with multiple columns.

              1. Use the associated “Number of Columns” spinner to specify the number of columns for the calculation sheet.

                A value between and including “1” and “10” can be specified.

                • If the “Display total column” check box is selected a maximum value of “9” can be specified (since the total column becomes the last column on the sheet).
              2. Select the “Display total column” check box to cause an additional column to be displayed at right of all other columns in the calculation sheet, wherein a total of all other columns’ values will be returned.

            5. Specify to create a calculation sheet with predefined sections and items representing a specific list of N-SAR filing screens and questions that can be imported into FundSuite ComFiler.
              Example: Calculation sheet of type “N-SAR”
              • One section is created in the calculation sheet for each specific N-SAR filing screen.
              • An item is created within each section for each specific N-SAR filing question.
              • You can create any number of calculation sheets of type “N-SAR” in a given workbook template.
              • You cannot manually add or edit sections, items or labels to the calculation sheet.
              • You cannot remove sections or items or move them up or down in the tree view.

          3. Use the “Horizontal Total Exchange Rate Default” drop-down list to designate a default exchange rate type at the calculation sheet level, which will be applied to each calculation sheet item that has its rate type set to “Use default”.

            • The drop-down list only displays when the “Enable horizontal totaling for workbook” check box is selected for the current template via the “Horizontal Totaling” tab of the page.
            • The drop-down list does not display when “N-SAR” is the specified “Type” selection.

          4. Select the “Fund look-through calculation sheet” check box to allow formulas within the calculation sheet to pull data from other funds, as required.

            • The check box only displays when the “Consolidated workbook” check box is selected for the current template via the “Settings” tab of the page.
            • The check box does not display when “N-SAR” is the specified “Type” selection.

        2. Select the “Copy Existing Sheet” to create a calculation sheet whose properties and settings match those of an existing sheet in the database.

          1. Specify the complex associated with the workbook template of the calculation sheet upon which the new sheet will be based via the “Source Complex” drop-down list.
          2. Specify the workbook template associated with the calculation sheet on which the new sheet will be based via the “Source Financial Workbook Template” drop-down list.
          3. Specify the existing calculation sheet on which the new sheet will be based via the “Source Calculation Sheet” drop-down list.
          4. Specify the complex of the financial workbook template with which the new calculation sheet will be associated via the “Target Complex” drop-down list.
          5. Specify the existing workbook template with which the new calculation sheet will be associated via the “Target Financial Workbook Template” drop-down list.

        3. Select the “Import” to create a calculation sheet whose properties and settings match those of an existing sheet that has been exported to a file of XML format.

      Data can only be imported into a blank/empty calculation sheet; the import will fail on attempt to load into a sheet with existing sections, items, etc.

    7. Click the “Get import template” at lower-right of the pane where existing items are listed to retrieve an Excel import file template.

          1. Specify whether the new template will be “Standard” (default selection) or “Pivoted” in orientation.

            This choice is irreversible once you add the new template.

          2. Provide a financial statement template “Name” and “Description” (if needed).
          3. Click the “Level” drop-down list to specify whether the new template will be a “Class” level (default selection) or “Currency” level template.

          4. Click the “Output Style Type” drop-down list to designate the type of financial statement that the template represents.

            Available output style types are limited to those designated as “active” in association with the current complex, via the Table Styles library.

          5. Click the “Rounding Source” drop-down list to designate whether the rounding of values in the financial statement template will be based on that of a given item’s source calculation sheet/trial balance or on that of the workbook template.

          6. Specify the “Number of Columns” that the new template will have (“Standard” orientation templates only).

            The spinner control is disabled for templates of “Pivoted” orientation.

          7. To link the new template to an existing calculation sheet, select the “Link to a calculation sheet” check box, and then specify the source sheet using the “Calculation Sheet” drop-down list.

            • This choice is irreversible once you add the new template.
            • Only calculation sheets of the specified “Level” (i.e., “Class” or “Currency”) are displayed in the drop-down list.

            • Calculation sheets of type “Multiple Columns” do not display as selections in the drop-down list if the specified “Orientation” selection is “Pivoted”.

        2. Select the “Copy Existing Template” to create a template whose properties and settings match those of an existing template in the database.
          1. Specify the existing template on which the new statement template will be based via the “Source Template” drop-down list.
          2. Provide a financial statement template “Name” and “Description” (if needed).

          3. Click the “Output Style Type” drop-down list to designate the type of financial statement that the template represents.

            Available output style types are limited to those designated as “active” in association with the current complex, via the Table Styles library.

          4. Click the “Rounding Source” drop-down list to designate whether the rounding of values in the financial statement template will be based on that of a given item’s source calculation sheet/trial balance or on that of the workbook template.

          5. Specify the “Number of Columns” that the new template will have (standard-orientation templates only).

            The spinner control is disabled when the specified “Source Template” is of “Pivoted” orientation.

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    7. Click the “Definition” tab beneath the “Template” drop-down list.

    8. Click the “Edit” at lower-left of the tab after selecting any given template section or sub-section to define its settings.

      1. Specify how class information will be displayed in statement output via the “Class Assignment/Behavior” tab.

        1. Select the “Single Row” option to display a single row for a specific class.

          1. Designate the corresponding base class using the “Base Class” drop-down list.
        2. Select the “Repeat by Class” option to display multiple sections representing each class on the financial statement.

      The “Edit” button is disabled when the statement template is linked to a calculation sheet.

    9. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    5. Click the “Proofing and Reasonability Checks” tab in the lower portion of the page.

    6. Click the “View” at the top of the tab and select “Proofing” to define one or more proofing groups for the template.

      You can create any number of named groups in association with a given workbook template. Each will contain a baseline element (topmost in the group) and one or more other elements to compare against the baseline, as needed. The results of each group’s comparisons can be viewed via the “Proofing” tab of the “Financial Workbook” page.

      1. Click the “Add proofing group” at lower-left of the tab to add a proofing group.

        1. Provide a “Group Name” value in the corresponding text box on the dialogue.

          You can edit the name of any existing proofing group at any time by selecting the group in the tree view, and then clicking the “Edit item details” button at lower-left of the tab.

        2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      2. Click the “Mapping Source” drop-down list at right of the tab and specify the type of elements you wish to include in the proofing group (i.e., class, fund or supplemental data points), or the source of the elements (i.e., a trial balance definition, calculation sheet or financial workbook template).

        Click the “Refresh data” button to cause the selections in the “Mapping Source” drop-down list to be refreshed, as well as any currently-selected mapping source details.

      3. Drag-and-drop each of the elements that will be compared from the pane at right of the tab to the in the pane at left.
        • Proofing group nodes in the left pane can be expanded or collapsed to show/hide the elements therein. You can only add an element to a given group by dropping it in the area just beneath the group node when the node is expanded.

        • The in a given group represents the baseline, against which all other elements in the group are compared.

          You can move a selected element up or down using the “Move item up” and “Move item down” buttons   at lower-left of the grid.

        • If you specify a multi-column calculation sheet as the “Mapping Source” selection, also click the “Column” drop-down list at right of the tab and specify the column whose value will be used, prior to mapping a given item from that calculation sheet to the proofing group.
        • When a given element is added to a proof sheet from a multi-column calculation sheet, any change to that element in the financial workbook instance is reflected in any corresponding proofing statements built in the financial workbook template.
        • If a multi-column calculation sheet proof exists that references a column number which is at some point removed, that proof dynamically updates to omit the now-non-existent column.

        • If a line item that has been added to a proofing group is edited in its containing financial statement template, the following behavior will be exhibited:

          • If the “Class Assignment/Behavior” setting is changed, the proof value will be updated accordingly, if applicable.
          • If the caption is changed, no update will be made to the proof value (not relevant).
        • If a line item that has been added to a proofing group is deleted from its containing statement template, it will be removed from the proof.
        • If a statement template is deleted that has one or more line items mapped to one or more proofing groups, the item(s) will be removed from the proof.

      4. As applicable, click the in the “Base Class” column for each element in the proofing group to specify the class whose value will be used.

        1. Click the “Base Class” drop-down list.

        2. Specify the desired base class value.

        3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

        • The “Base Class” link is disabled for rows representing fund data point elements or any element from a multi-column calculation sheet, when “Total” is the specified “Column” selection.

        • The base class displayed when an element is added to the grid defaults to the class setting specified for the original location of the element.

    7. Click the “View” at the top of the tab and select “Reasonability Checks” to define one or more reasonability checks for the template.

      You can create any number of named reasonability checks in association with a given workbook template. The results of each check’s formula evaluation (pass or fail) can be viewed via the “Reasonability Checks” tab of the “Financial Workbook” page.

        1. Provide a “Name” value in the corresponding text box on the dialogue.

          You can edit the name of any existing reasonability check at any time by selecting the check in the grid, and then clicking the “Edit” button at lower-left of the tab.

        2. Click the “Add” at lower-left of the formula grid on the dialogue to define one or more formula elements for the reasonability check.

          2. Define the formula element using the other controls on the dialogue, as appropriate.

          3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      1. Click the “Chart” drop-down list at the top of the tab to specify the general ledger chart of accounts with which the workbook template will be associated.
      2. Click the “Primary Rounding Level” drop-down list to specify the primary level to which numeric data for items in the workbook template will be rounded.
      3. Click the “Secondary Rounding Level” drop-down list to specify the secondary level to which numeric data for items in the workbook template will be rounded.
      4. Click the “Financial Footnote Library” drop-down list to specify the footnote library for use by statements associated with the template.
      5. Click the “Calendar” drop-down list to specify the calendar statements associated with the template will use to determine business days and non-business days in the reporting period.
      6. Select the “Auto reclass items during first calculation” check box to cause account reclass logic to be carried out for all items in the current template’s trial balance definition(s) that have their respective “Auto Reclass Account” check boxes selected, the first time any workbooks using the template are calculated.
      7. Select the “Consolidated workbook” check box to denote that the template is for consolidated workbooks.

      8. Drag-and-drop the fund(s) that will use the new workbook template from the “Available Funds” at right of the “Settings” tab to the “Funds using this financial workbook template” pane at left.
        • Of the funds using the general ledger chart associated with the workbook template, only those that have not already been assigned to another template will display in the “Available Funds” pane.
        • The fund order specified here determines the fund sequence in statement output (top-to-bottom or left-to-right).

    6. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

  • Horizontal totals are designed to work with multi-fund statements and provide a way to report a total for each line representing the value of all funds added together. Additionally, this functionality provides a way for funds in a variety of currencies to display a total in one single currency. Typically, horizontal totals will display in a separate column of the financial statement. Which funds’ values to calculate is determined by to the “Funds to Display” setting on the “Project Templates” page (i.e., “All funds” or “Selected Fund(s)”). You can specify horizontal totaling settings by carrying out the steps below.

    1. Expand the ArcReporting “Structure Templates” .

      1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

As required, select the “Use user-defined Average exchange rates for calculations” to ignore the system-calculated “Average” exchange rate for calculation sheet items with a “Horizontal Total Exchange Rate Type” setting of “Average”, and instead use the “Average”-type exchange rates defined by users (if any) via the “Exchange Rates” page.
      • The check box is cleared by default when a new financial workbook template is created.
      • If no “Average”-type exchange rates have been defined by users via the “Exchange Rates” page, a value of “0” will be returned for the calculation.

    8. Click the “Horizontal Total Currency” to specify the currency to be used when calculating horizontal totals.
      • If “[none]” is specified (default), horizontal totals will not calculate, but instead return a value of “0” if mapped via the “Financial Statement Template Output Settings” page.
      • The currency specified for the fund via the “Fund Information” tab of the “Funds” page will be the currency upon which the calculation is based.

    9. Click the “Exchange Rate Source” to specify the currency source to be used when calculating horizontal totals.

      The drop-down list is disabled if the “Horizontal Total Currency” drop-down list selection is “[none]”.

    10. Use the “Exchange Rate Time” to specify the time of day to be used when calculating horizontal totals.

      The field is disabled if the “Horizontal Total Currency” drop-down list selection is “[none]”.

    11. Click the “Exchange Rate Time Zone” to specify the time zone to be used when calculating horizontal totals.

      The field is disabled if the “Horizontal Total Currency” drop-down list selection is “[none]”.

    12. Designate the source of components in the currency translation adjustment formula, using the in the “Currency Translation Adjustment Formula” section at the bottom of the tab.

      1. Click the “Edit” at right of each text box in the section to choose a trial balance or calculation sheet item for that component of the formula.
        1. Click the “Type” drop-down list to indicate the type of entity (i.e., “Calculation Sheet” or “Trial Balance Definition”) that contains the element whose value will be used for the formula component.
        2. Depending on the “Type” selection specified, click either the “Calculation Sheet” or “Trial Balance Definition” drop-down list to designate the sheet/definition that contains the desired element.

        3. Click the “Element” to specify the element whose value will be used for the formula component.
          • Possible calculation sheet elements include any items from the selected sheet, including section totals (only those corresponding to sections having the “Calculate Total” check box selected).
          • Possible trial balance definition elements include sections, sub-sections (only those having the “Calculate Total” check box selected) and items from the selected definition.

        4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      • The formula for currency translation adjustment is (“Total Net Assets (A-L)” - sum(“Beginning Net Assets” + “Change in Net Assets from Operations” + “Change in Capital Share Transactions”)).
      • If no calculation sheet or trial balance definition element is mapped to any given component of the formula (i.e., if its text box is blank), a value of “0” is returned for that component.
      • Horizontal totaling output is only expected to work for statements containing multiple funds using a repeat group set to either “Period by Fund” or “Fund by Period”. Additionally, horizontal total data points must be placed outside of this repeat group. Using settings other than these will produce unexpected results, which may not be desirable.

    13. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

  • When trial balance year to date totaling functionality is turned on for a given financial workbook template, workbooks using the template will sum all trial balance data that has been loaded since the last fiscal year end of the fund and produce an ending year to date value. The resulting value is pushed to the fund’s default balance type. You can specify trial balance year to date totaling settings by carrying out the steps below.

    1. Expand the ArcReporting “Structure Templates” .

      1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

      • Available drop-down list selections include all balance types in the current environment, except the default balance type.
      • When using the year to date trial balance functionality, all periodic trial balance data must be loaded into the specified balance type.

    8. Designate the trial balance section(s) that will participate in the trial balance year to date totaling via the at the top of the tab.

      1. Drag-and-drop the applicable section(s) from the “Available Section(s)” list box at right of the tab to the “Section(s) using trial balance year to date totaling” list box at left.

        The “Available Section(s)” list box contains a listing of all trial balance sections in the current financial workbook template, excluding “Net Investment Income”, “Total Net Assets (A-L)” and “Total Net Assets (Capital)”.

    9. As required, select the “Enable master fund income/expense allocation for workbook” check box to use a specific calculation to allocate the profit and loss components of the master fund down to the feeder funds that invested in it.

    10. If the “Enable master fund income/expense allocation for workbook” check box is selected, designate the source of components in the income reallocation formulas, using the in the “Percentage Allocation (Pro rata)” and “Percentage Allocation (Offshore)” sections, respectively, at the bottom of the tab.

      1. Click the “Edit” at right of each text box in the section to choose a trial balance or calculation sheet item for that component of the formula.
        1. Click the “Type” drop-down list to indicate the type of entity (i.e., “Calculation Sheet” or “Trial Balance Definition”) that contains the element whose value will be used for the formula component.
        2. Depending on the “Type” selection specified, click either the “Calculation Sheet” or “Trial Balance Definition” drop-down list to designate the sheet/definition that contains the desired element.
        3. Click the “Element” drop-down list to specify the element whose value will be used for the formula component.

        4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      • The formula for pro rata percentage allocation is (“Feeder fund - Investments in master” / “Master fund - Partnership capital”). Both values will be taken from the respective funds’ default balance type.

        • The “Master fund - Partnership capital” account will be taken from the balance set of the feeder’s master fund.
        • The “Feeder fund - Investments in master” account will be taken from the balance set of the feeder fund.

      • The formula for offshore percentage allocation is (“Offshore feeder - Investment in capital” / “Offshore feeder(s)” - Sum of capital). Both values will be taken from the respective funds’ default balance type.

        • The “Offshore feeder(s) - Sum of capital” account will be taken from the balance set of the feeder’s master fund.
        • The “Offshore feeder - Investment in capital” account will be taken from the balance set of the feeder fund.
      • If no calculation sheet or trial balance definition element is mapped to any given component of a given formula (i.e., if its text box is blank), a value of “0” is returned for that component.

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

        • By default, a new item’s level is set to “Class”, but you can change it to “Currency”.
        • When set to “Currency”, you can add currency-level accounts to the item.

      3. Specify a for converting currency on trial balance and calculation sheet items.

        Available selections are the following:

        • “Average” - This option uses the average exchange rate of the all the exchange rates in ArcReporting for the entire period.

          • The month-end exchange rate is loaded for the entire year. ArcReporting adds all 12 exchange rates and divides by 12 to create the average.
          • The exchange rate is loaded daily for the entire year. ArcReporting adds all 365 exchange rates and divides by 365 to create the average.
        • “Closed” - This is the default selection. This option uses the exchange rate of the current account period to perform the currency conversion.
        • “Open” - This option uses the exchange rate of the prior fiscal year-end account period to perform the currency conversion.
        • “None (Unit/Share)” - This option prevents the calculation engine from using exchange rates when creating the horizontal total for the item; the total will be a straight summation of the numbers displayed by the individual funds.

      4. For workbook templates in which trial balance year to date totaling functionality is enabled, use the “Master/Feeder (Income Reallocation) Method” to specify the allocation method for the item (i.e., “Percentage Allocation (Pro rata)” or “Percentage Allocation (Offshore)”).

        Trial balance year to date totaling functionality is turned on by selecting the “Enable master fund income/expense allocation for workbook” check box on the “Trial Balance Year To Date (YTD)” tab of the page. The “Master/Feeder (Income Reallocation) Method” drop-down list only displays when this option is selected.

      5. Select the “Auto Reclass Account” to carry out account reclass logic for the item.
        1. Provide the account to which the reclass will occur by clicking the “Edit selection” button on the dialogue.
        2. Specify whether the reclass will be based on “Total” or on “Currency/Class”.

      6. Select the “Allow this value to be adjusted by footing” if you want the item to be adjusted for footing.
        • The check box is selected by default.
        • If the check box is cleared, the footing engine skips the item when adjusting for footing.
        • If the check box is cleared for all but one item within a section, the item whose check box is selected receives the footing adjustment.
        • If the check box is cleared for every item within a section, the footing logic adjusts the item with the least variance to ensure the trial balance foots properly.

      7. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    9. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    • Click the “Edit section/item” button at any time to edit the properties of a selected item.

    • Click the “Delete section/item” button to delete a selected item.

      If the item you wish to delete is referenced in some other application entity (e.g., conditional formula, calculation sheet, financial statement template output settings, financial workbook footnote, financial workbook template horizontal totaling formula, etc.), you will be alerted upon attempt to save changes, and you will need to remove any such references before deletion is allowed.

      • To select contiguous items to add, left-click the first item with the mouse, press and hold the “<Shift>” key, then left-click the last item with the mouse. To select items not grouped together, press and hold the “<Ctrl>” key while left-clicking desired items with the mouse.
      • Items can be moved directly from one trial balance definition item to another if the general ledger has already been mapped.
      • Once any given item is added to a trial balance definition item, it is no longer available for selection in the area at right of the tab (i.e., an account, supplemental data item, or fund or class data point can only display once in any given trial balance definition).
      • Once added to the tree view structure of the “Trial Balance Definitions” tab, you can drag-and-drop accounts, supplemental data items, and fund or class data points in from one item to another.

      To remove an account, supplemental data item, or fund or class data point from an item in the trial balance definition, drag-and-drop it from the tree view at left of the tab to the area at right of the tab.

          • This functionality automatically calculates a total so that you do not have to add a formula to the calculation sheet to do so. Currently, this functionality only adds all the components in the section, which means that all operators in the built-in formula are “+”. Functionality will be expanded in the future to allow for the use of any operator.
          • The total line participates in statement footing.

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    8. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    • Click the “Edit section, item or label” button at any time to edit the properties of a selected section.

    • Click the “Delete section, item or label” button to delete a selected section.

      If the section you wish to delete contains one or more items that are referenced in some other application entity (e.g., conditional formula, financial statement template output settings, financial statement template section item, workbook template horizontal totaling currency translation adjustment formula, etc.), you will be alerted upon attempt to save changes, and you will need to remove any such references before deletion is allowed.

          If you choose this type, you will be able to define one or more conditional expressions in the calculation sheet item’s formula.

          When this selection is set for the calculation sheet item, no items may be dragged-and-dropped into it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab interface.

          If you choose this type, you will be able to choose components that are contained in the current financial workbook template when creating the calculation sheet item’s formula. The following formula element types will be available:

          • Calculation Sheet

          • Class Data Point

            Class data points are not available for inclusion in item formulas for calculation sheets of type “Currency”.

          • Constant Value
          • Currency Translation
          • Days in Period
          • Fund Data Point
          • Supplemental Data
          • Trial Balance Definition

          When this selection is set for the calculation sheet item, the types of items that can be dragged-and-dropped into it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab interface are also limited to those contained in the following tabs:

          • Class Data Points
          • Financial Workbooks
          • Fund Data Points
          • Supplemental Data

          If you choose this type, you will be able to choose components that are relevant to a fund when creating the calculation sheet item’s formula. The following formula element types will be available:

          • Holdings Category
          • Holdings Category Maturity Range
          • Holdings Category Subtotal
          • Holdings Detail
          • Selecting this option disables the controls in the “Base Class Assignment/Behavior” section (see below), and forces the selection to be “Single row/column”.
          • When this selection is set for the calculation sheet item, only one item can be added to the formula and no items may be dragged-and-dropped into it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab interface.

          This selection is available only for calculation sheets of type “Class”, “Currency” and “Multiple Columns”.

          If you choose this type, you will be able to choose components that are relevant to a fund when creating the calculation sheet item’s formula. The following formula element types will be available:

            • Sub-section totals
          • Class Data Point

          • Selecting this option enables the “Rounding Level” drop-down list (see below), but it will be disabled if the calculation sheet item is inside a section that has the “Calculate Total” check box option selected.
          • Selecting this option disables the controls in the “Base Class Assignment/Behavior” section (see below), and forces the selection to be “Single row/column”.

          • When this selection is set for the calculation sheet item, the types of items that can be dragged-and-dropped into it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab interface are also limited to those contained in the following tabs:

            • Class Data Points

            • Financial Workbooks

              • Items of type “Trial Balance”

        5.

          This selection is not available for calculation sheets of type “Currency”.

          If you choose this type, you will be able to choose components that are relevant to a fund when creating the calculation sheet item’s formula. The following formula element type will be available:

          • Portfolio Statement Item

            • Available statement items include “Total Investments”, “Other Assets”, “Formula” and “Net Assets”.
          • Selecting this option disables the controls in the “Base Class Assignment/Behavior” section (see below), and forces the selection to be “Single row/column”.
          • When this selection is set for the calculation sheet item, only one item can be added to the formula and no items may be dragged-and-dropped into it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab interface.
      3. Click the “Rounding Level” to specify the rounding level for the new item.

        This setting is not enabled for calculation sheet items of type “Holdings” or “Portfolio Statement Definition”.

        1. The rounding level may be based on the level set for the workbook (default selection), or set to a specific rounding level.

          The “000’s (suppressed)” selection behaves like the “000’s” selection, except that trailing zeros will be suppressed (e.g., “1,000” displays as “1”, “10,000” as “10”, “100,000” as “100”, etc.). Rounding to thousands will occur in both the financial workbook display and financial statement output/preview. The suppression of zeros will only occur in financial statement output/preview, however (i.e., zeros will display in the financial workbook instance).

      4. Click the “Horizontal Total Exchange Rate Type” drop-down list to specify the exchange rate type for horizontal totals for the new item.

      5. Click the “Horizontal Total Exchange Rate Type” to specify the exchange rate type for horizontal totals for the new item.

        Available selections are the following:

        • “Average” - This option uses the average exchange rate of the all the exchange rates in ArcReporting for the entire period.

          • The month-end exchange rate is loaded for the entire year. ArcReporting adds all 12 exchange rates and divides by 12 to create the average.

        • “None (Unit/Share)” - This option prevents the calculation engine from using exchange rates when creating the horizontal total for the item; the total will be a straight summation of the numbers displayed by the individual funds.

      6. As required, select the “Use simplified formula for horizontal total” to restrict available features/functionality in the “Formula” grid for the current calculation sheet item.
        • The check box is only displayed when a “Calculation Sheet Item Type” of “Financial Workbook” is specified.
        • The check box is only enabled if the “Enable horizontal totaling for workbook” option is selected for the workbook template.

        • If the check box is selected, the following behavior is exhibited:

          • The “(” and “)” columns of the “Formula” grid are disabled and set to “(none)” (i.e., blank).
          • Only “+” and “-” selections are available for the “Operator” column of the “Formula” grid.
          • Only “Calculation Sheet” and “Trial Balance Definition” selections are available for the “Type” drop-down list on the “Add/Edit Formula Element” dialogue.

          • The horizontal total is calculated by summing/subtracting the already-calculated horizontal total of the components.

            • For multi-column calculation sheets, only column 1 will have a horizontal total calculated.
            • If you map column 2 or greater, the horizontal total used in the simple formula will be “0.00”.

      7. For calculation sheets of type “Multiple Columns”, click the “Column” drop-down list to designate the column to which the “Base Class Assignment/Behavior” and “Formula” settings you’ll specify pertain (you can specify distinct settings for each column in the calculation sheet item).

        Once you’ve specified settings for any given column, you can easily apply them to one or more other columns by clicking the “Apply To” link at right of the “Column” drop-down list.

      8. Designate the for the item. This option will determine how class data will be displayed.
        • This setting is not displayed for calculation sheets of type “Currency”.
        • This setting is not enabled for calculation sheet items of type “Holdings”, “Other Assets Value” or “Portfolio Statement Definition”.

        1. Select “Single row/column” (default selection) to display data in a single row or column.

          1. Click the “Base Class” drop-down list.

            1. Identify a specific class in order to yield one row of data, with separate columns representing the number of classes assigned on the “Funds” page. Only data specific to the designated class will be displayed in the project preview and output.
            2. Set the value to “All” in order to yield one row displaying all the classes in separated columns, but only displaying data in an “All” column. If the calculation sheet item is set as “Financial Workbook” and its components come from a trial balance, data will be aggregated in project preview and output. It will not aggregate class data, however.

        2. Select “Multiple rows/columns (per class)” to display data in multiple rows or columns, based upon the “Type” setting for the current calculation sheet.

          • This selection is disabled for calculation sheets of type “Multiple Columns”, when any of the following selections is specified as the “Calculation Sheet Item Type” (in which, case “Single row/column” becomes the only available option):

            • “Holdings”
            • “Portfolio Statement Definition”
          1. If the calculation sheet is set to read “Classes Across”, this option will yield one row representing the calculation sheet item, with columns depicting each class and displaying the appropriate data.
          2. If the calculation sheet is set to read “Classes Down”, this option will yield one column representing the item with rows depicting each class and displaying the appropriate data.
      9. Click the “Trial Balance Value Type” to choose which trial balance value to use in the calculation sheet item.
        1. Select “Footed - Primary Rounding Level” (default selection) to pull the “Ending Balance Footed” value from the primary trial balance.
        2. Select “Footed - Secondary Rounding Level” to pull the “Ending Balance Footed” value from the secondary trial balance.
        3. Select “Raw Value” to pull the “Ending Value Raw” value from the trial balance.
        • This setting is not available for calculation sheet items of type “Conditional Value”.
        • This setting will only impact the location from which trial balance values are pulled. When referencing another calculation sheet item, calculation sheet section total, fund data point, class data point or supplemental data point the footed value will be returned.

      10. Add .

        1. Click the “Add formula element” button at lower-left of the “Formula” grid.

          1. For calculation sheet items with a type other than “Conditional Value”, :
            1. Specify the “Type” of element to add to the formula (available selections will be filtered, based on the selection of the “Calculation Sheet Item Type” drop-down list).
            2. Select the desired element to add to the formula.

            3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

          2. For calculation sheet items of type “Conditional Value”, :
            1. Provide a “Name” for the formula element.

            2. Define a conditional formula element using the “If”, “Operator”, “Value” and “Return Type” drop-down lists on the dialogue.

              • “Operator” options include “equal to”, “greater than”, “greater than or equal to”, “less than”, “less than or equal to” and “not equal to”.

              • The evaluation “Value” are dependent on the specified “If” selection.
                • A selection of “Account Period Type” enables you to choose from “Annual”, “Semi-Annual”, “Quarterly” and “Monthly”.

                • A selection of “Attribute” enables you to choose any attribute from a given attribute type.

                  • Attributes are complex-specific.
                  • Attributes displayed are those attributes specific to the complex of the selected financial workbook.
                • A selection of “Fund” enables you to select any fund found in the complex of the selected financial workbook.
                • A selection of “Fund Group” enables you to select any fund group associated with the complex of the selected financial workbook.
                • A selection of “Fund Type” enables you to select any fund type that exists in the Environment Administration area.
                • A selection of “Financial Workbook” enables you to select any element of the selected financial workbook. This includes items from a calculation sheet or trial balance definition, a class data point, constant value, fund data point or supplemental data point.

              • The “Return Type” are “True”, “And” and “Or”.
                • Selecting “And” or “Or” creates an additional level or related variable of the conditional expression.
                • You must specify a “Return Type” value of either “And” or “Or” for all elements in a given conditional value formula; the combination of these return types within in a single calculation sheet item formula is not currently supported.
            3. If “True” is specified as the “Return Type”, designate a “Return Value” to use if the condition returns true.

            4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

            5. Specify a “Return Value if no conditions are met” to use if the defined condition(s) evaluate(s) to “False”.
        2. Adjust operators and parentheses for formula elements, as necessary.
        • Selected formula elements can be moved up or down in the “Formula” grid by means of the corresponding positioning arrows , also at lower-left of the grid.

        • Once a calculation sheet item has been created (except for those of type “Conditional Value”, “Holdings” and “Portfolio Statement Definition”), you can also from one of the sub-tabs at lower-right of the “Calculation Sheets” tab to the calculation sheet item in the tree view at left of the tab.

          1. If the formula’s new item will come from a trial balance or calculation sheet, click the “Financial Workbooks” tab at right of the “Calculation Sheets” tab, and then choose the appropriate sheet or workbook from the “Trial Balance/Calculation Sheet” drop-down list.

            1. For calculation sheets of type “Multiple Columns”, you can also use the “Column” drop-down list at right of the sub-tab to specify which column’s formula definition is mapped to an item formula in the target calculation sheet.

              The “Column” value is only relevant when mapping items to an existing calculation sheet item formula; not when copying an entire item to a calculation sheet section.

            2. Drag the desired element(s) from the listing at right onto the calculation sheet item in the tree view at left.

              The number of elements that are mapped to the item’s formula are displayed as a blue link in parentheses at right of the item text.

          2. If the formula’s new item will be either a supplemental data item, fund data point or class data point, click the appropriate sub-tab at lower-right of the “Calculation Sheets” tab.

            1. Drag the desired element(s) from the listing at right onto the calculation sheet item in the tree view at left.

              The number of elements that are mapped to the item’s formula are displayed as a blue link in parentheses at right of the item text.

      11. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    8. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    • You can select the “Highlight mapped items” check box at the bottom of the “Calculation Sheets” tab to cause all items mapped to the selected calculation sheet to temporarily display with a green background color on their respective sub-tab (i.e., “Financial Workbooks”, “Supplemental Data”, “Fund Data Points”, etc.) at right of the page.
    • Click the “Edit section, item or label” button at any time to edit the properties of a selected item.

    8. Add sections and/or items to the statement structure displayed at left of the tab (standard-orientation templates) or the top of the tab (pivoted-orientation templates) by dragging-and-dropping them from the “Available Items” .

      1. Click the “Trial Balance / Calculation Sheet / Extras” drop-down list to specify the source of the section(s)/item(s) you wish to add.

        • You can add specific other components to the financial statement template by specifying the “Extras” .

          • Column Header

            • You can only add one column header to the template definition, at the outermost level.

          • Custom Heading (standard-orientation templates only)

            • You can only add one custom heading to the template definition, at the outermost level.

              • When a custom heading is added to the template definition, it displays directly beneath and as a “child” to the statement node, above the “Column Header” item, when present.
              • When a financial statement template is linked to a calculation sheet, a “Custom Heading” node is added by default.

            If a “Custom Heading” node exists, but has no caption settings specified, the caption node/XML will be suppressed in statement output.

          • Custom Section (standard-orientation templates only)

            • You may add as many custom sections as you need to the template definition, under the “Statement” node. The default name for a custom section is “Custom Section”, but you can change to any appropriate name, and any number of custom sections in a template may have the same name.
            • Only calculation sheet items may be added as “children” of a custom section.
            • There is no total line associated with a custom section.
            • There are no numeric values associated with a custom section (only its name).

          • Footnote Legend

            • You can only add one footnote legend to the template definition.

        • All calculation sheets created for the current financial workbook template display in the .
          • When you add an item from a calculation sheet to the template definition, its “Class Assignment/Behavior” settings default to those defined for it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab of the “Financial Workbook Templates” page (on the “Add/Edit Calculation Sheet Item” dialogue).

        • All trial balance definitions created for the current financial workbook template display in the (standard-orientation templates only).
          • When you add an item from a trial balance to the template definition, its “Class Assignment/Behavior” settings default to “Single row/column”, with a “Base Class” selection of “All”.
      • Selected sections or items can be moved within the statement structure by means of the corresponding positioning arrows ( for pivoted-orientation templates) at lower-left of the tab.
      • Click the “Refresh data” button at right of the “Trial Balance / Calculation Sheet / Extras” field to update the components of selectable trail balance definitions and calculation sheets with any changes.

    9. Click the “Edit” at lower-left of the tab after selecting any given template section, sub-section, item or footnote legend to define its settings.

      1. For standard-orientation template sections, sub-sections or items, specify how class information will be displayed in statement output via the “Class Assignment/Behavior” .

        1. Select the “Single Row” option to display a single row for a specific class.

          1. Designate the corresponding base class using the “Base Class” drop-down list.
        2. Select the “Repeat by Class” option to display multiple sections representing each class on the financial statement.

      2. For standard-orientation templates, use the “Sorting” to control the sort order of a section, sub-section or item.

        1. The “Sorting” tab is enabled only when a trial balance section, trial balance sub-section or calculation sheet section is selected (not a custom section, trial balance section total, trial balance sub-section total or calculation sheet section total).

          1. Specify a “Sort By” value.

            • Select the “Default” option to sort the financial statement according to the layout specified in the financial statement template.

            • Select the “Caption” option to sort based on captions.

              • Selecting the this option for a section with only one or more items contained therein causes the financial statement to sort by the item caption provided in the financial statement template.
              • Selecting this option for a section with one or more sub-sections contained therein causes the financial statement to sort by the sub-section header caption provided in the financial statement template.
              • Selecting this option for a section with both sub-sections and items contained therein causes the financial statement to sort by both the sub-section and item captions.

            • Select the “Value” option to sort the statement by the item value.

              • Spreads sort by the item value of the first fund that appears in the spread.
              • Sections containing sub-sections sort based on the sub-section total value.
          2. Designate a “Sort Direction” of “Ascending” or “Descending”.

          1. Select the “Custom sort override - Use default sort” check box to exclude the item from the designated sort and identify the position where the items should be displayed within its containing section or sub-section.

            1. Indicate whether the item will “Show at top” or “Show at bottom” of other items in the section/sub-section that are participating in the custom sort.

            If multiple items within the section/sub-section have this option selected, those items will be sorted relative to one another based on their order in the financial statement template, as if they were part of the default sort.

      3. For footnote legends of standard- or pivoted-orientation templates, use the to specify auto-symbol generation settings.

        1. Designate the “Auto Symbol Pattern” (e.g., “1,2,3”; “a,b,c”; “(a),(b),(c)”; etc.) for footnotes that participate in auto symbol generation.

          By default, footnotes added to a footnote library will participate in auto symbol generation.

        2. Use the “Auto Symbol Order” drop-down list to choose the basis upon which footnotes that participate in auto-symbol generation will be ordered (i.e., “By Occurrence in Statement” or “Alphabetical by Footnote Symbol”).

        3. As required, provide a for both footnotes that do and do not participate in auto symbol generation.
          • The value specified, if any, is used to separate footnote symbols when multiple footnotes exist for any given statement item.
          • The default value for newly-created footnote legend items is “,” (<comma>).
          • Any character can be entered in the text box, including a space.
          • The maximum character length for the text box value is 3.
        4. Designate the “Placement” (i.e., “Above Auto Symbol Footnotes” or “Below Auto Symbol Footnotes”) for footnotes that do not participate in auto-symbol generation.
      • The “Edit” button is disabled when the statement template is linked to a calculation sheet.
      • For pivoted-orientation templates, the “Edit” button is only enabled when the “Footnote Legend” item is selected.

      • For standard-orientation templates, the “Edit” button is enabled when any item is selected except the following:

        • “Column Header”
        • “Trial Balance Section Total”
        • “Trial Balance Sub-Section Total”
        • “Calculation Sheet Section Total”

    10. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

    You can remove an item from the statement structure by dragging-and-dropping it from the definition pane to the “Available Items” tab.

      • Click the “Refresh data” button at lower-right of the pane to refresh content to reflect any changes made to the output settings’ associated template.
    8. If the current template supports multiple languages, use the “Multiple Language Options” settings in the right pane to specify whether the same column mapping and formatting settings will be used for all languages, or if you wish to define distinct layouts for each language.

    9. Add data points, custom tags and standard (e.g., “$”, “%”, “€”, “£”, etc.) or custom literal values to the cells of .

      1. Add data points, financial workbook items (i.e., calculation sheet, trial balance and supplemental data items) and literal values by them from their respective panes on the tabs beneath the “Mapping” grid.

        1. For standard-orientation statement templates, select an item from the statement structure tree at left to begin mapping.

          • Data points available for mapping vary by node selected.

            • When “Custom Data Point” is the specified data point type, a “Library” drop-down list displays through which you can designate the data point library containing the desired data points to map. Only those libraries associated with the same complex as the current template are available for selection.
        2. For pivoted-orientation statement templates, no statement structure tree is displayed at left of the page; simply begin mapping to the statement items displayed in the “Mapping” grid.

      2. Add custom tags via the associated at lower-left of the grid.

        1. Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Insert custom tag” to define the custom tag settings.

          3. If the specified custom tag has the “Additional Arguments” check box selected in the Custom Tags library, enter the appropriate argument(s) in the “Additional Argument(s)” text box.

            For a custom tag requiring additional arguments, it is helpful to provide definitions and/or examples of argument values in the “Description” field when creating/editing the tag via the “Custom Tags” page. This offers some guidance to any user who insert the tag in a text editor.

          4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      • If multiple items are added to any given cell, new items will be added to the rightmost position among existing items in the cell. Items can be removed from cells, and the order of items in the cell can be adjusted using the controls on the “Format Items” tab.
      • To create a custom literal item, type the desired text in the box at lower-right of the page. The text for the “{custom}” item at the top of the “Literals” pane reflects the text you enter, and that item can be dragged-and-dropped to the appropriate cell in the desired position to insert the custom literal.
      • Hard returns, soft returns, tabs and spaces can also be added to cells. Items representing these can be found at the end of the list of literals provided.

      • Click the “Add new item to the grid” button at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid, respectively, to add or remove rows.

        • For pivoted-orientation statement templates, you can add either a “Standard” or “Column Header” mapping row by specifying the corresponding option on the “Add Row” dialogue.
      • To delete all mapped items and associated formatting and suppression settings in all columns for the selected item, click the “Delete Mappings” link at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid.

    10. You can merge cells in the grid across columns and/or rows (pivoted-orientation templates only) by selecting the cell representing the upper-left cell of the range, and then clicking the “Span cells” beneath the grid.

              A read-only text string is displayed beneath the “Include currency symbol” check box, which dynamically reflects the settings you designate for the “Separator”, “Last Separator”, “Post Text” and “Include currency symbol” controls.

            The check box is not displayed for the “Total Net Assets (A-L)”, “Total Net Assets (Capital)” or “Net Investment Income” item is selected (even though these are of type “Section Total”).

        2. Specify for the “Column Header” item in standard-orientation templates.

Select the “Suppress column header row for account period type(s)” check box, and then select one or more of the account period type check boxes (i.e., “Annual”, “Semi-Annual”, “Quarterly” and “Monthly”) to suppress the column header in statement output for projects associated with the account period type(s) represented by the selected check box(es).

              • Values will only be returned for the repeat group when the items mapped come from a trial balance or from a “Currency”-type calculation sheet. Otherwise, “0” or unpredictable results will be returned.

              • Currencies can be sorted by either of the following means:

                • “Currency Code” (default option)

                  • When this option is selected, currencies will sort in ascending order by the currency code value.

                • “Currency Caption”

                  • When this option is selected, currencies will sort in ascending order by the currency caption value.

              • This repeat group will repeat for all currencies specified (i.e., all currencies, the Top “N” currencies based on a given property, or currencies greater than a certain percentage), that have values for the period(s) displayed.

                • This repeat group will exclude the fund’s currency during the repeat if the “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” option was enabled in the calculation sheet.

                  This could be handled via a zero suppress, just like any other currency without a value.

                • Calculation sheets will display all currencies that have a balance in one of the line items in the calculation sheet. The logic will look at the GL, holdings and other calculation sheets items in the formula to determine this.
                • Financial statement output will display all the currencies shown in the calculation sheet items/totals mapped to the statement. Currencies with a zero balance will not display in statement preview/output and will be suppressed.
                • If a financial statement template only pulls values from one currency calculation sheet, the currencies that display on the calculation sheet and the financial statement template will be the same (unless the financial statement template is only showing the Top “N” or > percentage).
                • The base currency of the fund will be suppressed from the calculation sheet and financial statement preview when the “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” option is enabled in the calculation sheet.

            •

              • Repeat functionality is based on the fund inception date and the class inception date.

                • The inception date of at least one class associated with the fund must be valid for the fund to repeat.
                • When repeating for multiple funds, since each fund may have a different inception date, each fund may have a different number of columns that repeat.

          • For standard-orientation statement templates, a repeat group box of the specified type is added above Column 1 by default, but may be subsequently adjusted to apply to another single column or multiple contiguous columns.
          • For pivoted-orientation statement templates, a repeat group box of the specified type is added to the first row of the “Items” section of the grid by default, but may be subsequently adjusted to apply to another single row or multiple contiguous rows within the “Items” section of the grid.

        For standard-orientation statement templates, the repeat group is defined for the statement template’s “Column Header” node, and settings are applied to all other line items in the statement structure, with the exception of footnote legends and footnote items. Any adjustments to the repeat group’s settings must be made via the “Column Header” node.

      2. Click and drag the outer corners of the repeat group box to specify the column(s) (standard orientation) or the row(s) (pivoted orientation) the repeat group encompasses.

      If you want certain rows in a pivoted statement to repeat by fund, then by class, then by account period, to the appropriate set of rows:

      • The “Fund” repeat group will repeat all the rows within for each fund.
      • The “Class” repeat group will repeat for all the classes within the fund, before moving on to the next fund.
      • The “Account Period” repeat group will repeat for all the account periods within the class, before moving on to the next class.

          Only line items that have not already been specified as another “Statement total to check” (i.e., for another checksum) can be dragged/dropped onto the text box.

        3. Add one or more “Statement items to sum” to define a formula for calculating the specified “Statement total to check”.

          1. Left-click and hold the appropriate line item in the “Statement Structure” tree view.
          2. Drag-and-drop the item on the “Statement items to sum” grid.
          3. If more than one item to sum is added to the grid, specify the appropriate operator for each (i.e., “+”, “-”, “/” or “*”) using the drop-down list in the “Operator” column of the grid for the respective rows.

          Only line items that have not already been added to the “Statement items to sum” grid (for the current or any other checksum) can be dragged/dropped onto the grid.

        You can remove any line item from a given checksum definition, if necessary, by dragging-and-dropping it back onto the “Statement Structure” tree view.

    17. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

          2. For pivoted-orientation statement templates, no statement structure tree is displayed at left of the page; simply begin mapping to the statement items displayed in the “Mapping” grid.

        2. Add custom tags via the associated at lower-left of the grid.

          1. Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Insert custom tag” to define the custom tag settings.

              For a custom tag requiring additional arguments, it is helpful to provide definitions and/or examples of argument values in the “Description” field when creating/editing the tag via the “Custom Tags” page. This offers some guidance to any user who insert the tag in a text editor.

            4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

        • If multiple items are added to any given cell, new items will be added to the rightmost position among existing items in the cell. Items can be removed from cells, and the order of items in the cell can be adjusted using the controls on the “Format Items” tab.
        • To create a custom literal item, type the desired text in the box at lower-right of the page. The text for the “{custom}” item at the top of the “Literals” pane reflects the text you enter, and that item can be dragged-and-dropped to the appropriate cell in the desired position to insert the custom literal.
        • Hard returns, soft returns, tabs and spaces can also be added to cells. Items representing these can be found at the end of the list of literals provided.

        • Click the “Add new item to the grid” button at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid, respectively, to add or remove rows.

          • For pivoted-orientation statement templates, you can add either a “Standard” or “Column Header” mapping row by specifying the corresponding option on the “Add Row” dialogue.
        • To delete all mapped items and associated formatting and suppression settings in all columns for the selected item, click the “Delete Mappings” link at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid.

      2. You can merge cells in the grid across columns and/or rows (pivoted-orientation templates only) by selecting the cell representing the upper-left cell of the range, and then clicking the “Span cells” beneath the grid.

          2. Specify for the “Column Header” item in standard-orientation templates.

                  • This repeat group will exclude the fund’s currency during the repeat if the “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” option was enabled in the calculation sheet.

                    This could be handled via a zero suppress, just like any other currency without a value.

                  • Calculation sheets will display all currencies that have a balance in one of the line items in the calculation sheet. The logic will look at the GL, holdings and other calculation sheets items in the formula to determine this.
                  • Financial statement output will display all the currencies shown in the calculation sheet items/totals mapped to the statement. Currencies with a zero balance will not display in statement preview/output and will be suppressed.
                  • If a financial statement template only pulls values from one currency calculation sheet, the currencies that display on the calculation sheet and the financial statement template will be the same (unless the financial statement template is only showing the Top “N” or > percentage).
                  • The base currency of the fund will be suppressed from the calculation sheet and financial statement preview when the “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” option is enabled in the calculation sheet.

          For standard-orientation statement templates, the repeat group is defined for the statement template’s “Column Header” node, and settings are applied to all other line items in the statement structure, with the exception of footnote legends and footnote items. Any adjustments to the repeat group’s settings must be made via the “Column Header” node.

        2. Click and drag the outer corners of the repeat group box to specify the column(s) (standard orientation) or the row(s) (pivoted orientation) the repeat group encompasses.

        If you want certain rows in a pivoted statement to repeat by fund, then by class, then by account period, to the appropriate set of rows:

            2. Drag-and-drop the item on the “Statement items to sum” grid.
            3. If more than one item to sum is added to the grid, specify the appropriate operator for each (i.e., “+”, “-”, “/” or “*”) using the drop-down list in the “Operator” column of the grid for the respective rows.

            Only line items that have not already been added to the “Statement items to sum” grid (for the current or any other checksum) can be dragged/dropped onto the grid.

          You can remove any line item from a given checksum definition, if necessary, by dragging-and-dropping it back onto the “Statement Structure” tree view.

    9. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page if any updates were made.

    A listing of records, with certain associated information, can be exported from the application database to any of several different file formats (DOC, HTM, XML, etc.). Follow the steps below to perform a data export.

    1. Click the “Export data” at lower-right of the pane where existing items are listed to export data from the grid.

      1. Select the next to the file format to which you’d like the data saved.

        •  .XML

        •  .DOC

        •  .CSV

        •  .HTM

        •  .TXT

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

        1. Specify a local or network directory in which to store the file, and provide a “File name”.
        2. Click the “Save” button.

      You can also open the “Financial Statement Template Output Settings” page for any given financial statement template by clicking the “Output Settings” link while viewing that template on the “Financial Statement Templates” tab of the “Financial Workbook Templates” page.

    3. Select the desired item from the “Listing” pane at left of the page.

    4. Select the desired template from the “Financial Statement Template” drop-down list.
    5. Select the line item whose column mappings you wish to review in the “Statement Structure” section at left of the “Detail” pane.

    6. Click the “Delete Mappings” link at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid.

    7. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

  • You can specify the caption for financial statement items and associated total lines via the “Caption” tab of the statement template definition. You can also cause captions change dynamically, based on whether an item’s numeric value is positive, negative or mixed. Follow the steps outlined below to do so.

    10. Specify captions for the desired language(s) in the of the grid.

      1. To specify a static (i.e., non-conditional/non-variable) caption for any given template item, simply enter the caption text in the “Caption” column of the grid.

        For template items of type “Custom Heading”, you may alternatively use the contents of an existing text snippet as the item’s static caption by selecting the check box in the “Use Text Snippet” column of the grid, and then specifying the desired snippet by clicking the “(select snippet)” hyperlink that displays in the “Caption” column.

      2. To specify a particular caption for any given template item that is based on certain property values and/or conditions, select the appropriate check box option(s) at right of the “Change Caption Based on” label, then enter the caption text or otherwise specify caption content in the column(s) of the grid. Available columns and means of specifying captions will vary, dependent on the template item type and the selected check box(es).

    11. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

      1. Choose the desired for the account period to be displayed (e.g., “Current Account Period”, “Fiscal Year End 1st prior”, “Comparative 1st prior”, etc.).
        • The default period type for any new statement template is the “Current Account Period”.
        • You can only add a period type that has not already been defined in the “Account Periods” grid.

        How to interpret the different account period types:

        • “Fiscal Year End 1st Prior” equates to the first prior fiscal year end.
        • “Fiscal Year Semi End 1st Prior” is the semi-annual account period found in the first prior fiscal year.
        • “Comparative 1st Prior” compares the current account period to the exact same account period 1 year earlier.

      2. Choose the desired “Display” (i.e., “Always”, “Annual”, “Semi-Annual”, or “Quarterly”) to specify when the designated period type will be displayed.

        How to interpret the different display types:

        • “Always” (default selection for newly-added period types) causes data for the account period type to be displayed regardless of the “Account Period” specification for the project’s template.

        • “Annual” causes data for the period type to display only if the “Account Period” setting for the project’s template is “Annual”.
        • “Semi-Annual” causes data for the period type to display only if the “Account Period” setting for the project’s template is “Semi-Annual”.
        • “Quarterly” causes data for the period type to display only if the “Account Period” setting for the project’s template is “Quarterly”.

      3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      4. Repeat the above steps for as many account periods as will be displayed.
      • Once any given account period record has been added to the grid on the “Account Periods” tab, you can click the link representing its “Period Type” or “Display” to modify the value, if necessary.
      • If adding a prior account period to a statement template, remember to set the repeat group functionality via the “Financial Statement Template Output Settings” page; additional account periods will not display in project output if a repeat group setting has not been specified.

    9. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

      • This check box is selected by default for all newly created financial statement templates.
      • This setting overrides the default behavior of class information, whose display in financial statements is based on the class-level “Close Date” and the class-level “Active” flag (each set via the “Funds” page in the Environment Administration area).

    9. Drag-and-drop the class(es) you wish to associate with the current financial statement template from the “Available Classes” pane at right of the tab to the “Associated Class(es)” pane at left.

      • Selected classes can be moved up or down in the “Associated Class(es)” pane by means of the corresponding positioning arrows at lower-left of the tab. The class order specified here determines the fund sequence in statement output (top-to-bottom or left-to-right).
      • You can remove a class from the “Associated Class(es)” pane by dragging-and-dropping it back to the “Available Classes” pane at right.

      Upon the creation/save of a new financial workbook template, all base classes associated with all funds in the template (per the “Settings” tab) will be added to the “Associated Class(es)” pane.
