Defining Financial Statement Template Output Settings

1. Add data points, custom tags and standard (e.g., “$”, “%”, “€”, “£”, etc.) or custom literal values to the cells of specific statement items.

   1. Add data points, financial workbook items (i.e., calculation sheet, trial balance and supplemental data items) and literal values by dragging-and-dropping them from their respective panes on the tabs beneath the “Mapping” grid.

      1. For standard-orientation statement templates, select an item from the statement structure tree at left to begin mapping.

         The “Mapping” section displays at right of the page.

         

         • Data points available for mapping vary by node selected.

           • When “Custom Data Point” is the specified data point type, a “Library” drop-down list displays through which you can designate the data point library containing the desired data points to map. Only those libraries associated with the same complex as the current template are available for selection.
      2. For pivoted-orientation statement templates, no statement structure tree is displayed at left of the page; simply begin mapping to the statement items displayed in the “Mapping” grid.

   2. Add custom tags via the associated button at lower-left of the grid.

      1. Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Insert custom tag” button to define the custom tag settings.

         The “Insert Custom Tag” dialogue displays.

         

         1. Specify the tag to insert via the “Custom Tag” drop-down list.

            The read-only “Description” text box displays the “Description” value associated with the specified custom tag, as defined via the “Custom Tags” page.

         2. If the specified custom tag has the “Additional Fixed Options” check box selected in the Custom Tags library, select one of the available options via the “Additional Fixed Option” drop-down list (the drop-down list is disabled if no fixed options are defined for the selected tag).

         3. If the specified custom tag has the “Additional Arguments” check box selected in the Custom Tags library, enter the appropriate argument(s) in the “Additional Argument(s)” text box.

            For a custom tag requiring additional arguments, it is helpful to provide definitions and/or examples of argument values in the “Description” field when creating/editing the tag via the “Custom Tags” page. This offers some guidance to any user who insert the tag in a text editor.

         4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

   • If multiple items are added to any given cell, new items will be added to the rightmost position among existing items in the cell. Items can be removed from cells, and the order of items in the cell can be adjusted using the controls on the “Format Items” tab.
   • To create a custom literal item, type the desired text in the box at lower-right of the page. The text for the “{custom}” item at the top of the “Literals” pane reflects the text you enter, and that item can be dragged-and-dropped to the appropriate cell in the desired position to insert the custom literal.
   • Hard returns, soft returns, tabs and spaces can also be added to cells. Items representing these can be found at the end of the list of literals provided.

   • Click the “Add new item to the grid” button at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid, respectively, to add or remove rows.

     • For pivoted-orientation statement templates, you can add either a “Standard” or “Column Header” mapping row by specifying the corresponding option on the “Add Row” dialogue.
   • To delete all mapped items and associated formatting and suppression settings in all columns for the selected item, click the “Delete Mappings” link at lower-left of the “Mapping” grid.

2. You can merge cells in the grid across columns and/or rows (pivoted-orientation templates only) by selecting the cell representing the upper-left cell of the range, and then clicking the “Span cells” button beneath the grid.

   1. Specify the “Number of Columns to Span” using the corresponding spinner control on the dialogue.
   2. Specify the “Number of Rows to Span” using the corresponding spinner control on the dialogue (pivoted-orientation templates only).

   3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      • Any data that was in the upper-left (start) cell of the specified span area will be displayed in the span area text box of the grid; any data in any other cells of the span area range will be deleted.
      • Multiple span areas may exist within a table, but span areas cannot overlap.
      • All row and column positioning buttons are disabled when at least one span area exists in a given template’s grid.

   Click the “Remove Span” button beneath the grid to remove any selected span area.

3. Indicate the cell style and apply formatting (e.g., bold, italic, underline, color, alignment, etc.) to the text of mapped items.

   1. Format the text of all items within a selected cell.

      Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Format Cell” button at lower-left of the grid to view/edit cell settings.

      The “Format Cell” dialogue displays.

      

      1. Specify formatting settings, as required.

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      • When the dialogue is opened, Arc Suite examines the settings of all items in the currently-selected cell to determine what state each check box on the dialogue will display.

        • Cleared

          • All items in the currently-selected cell have the attribute cleared.

        • Selected

          • All items in the currently-selected cell have the attribute selected.

        • Mixed/Indeterminate

          • Some items in the currently-selected cell have the attribute cleared and some have the attribute selected (distinct settings were specified via the “Format Item” dialogue).
          • If the check box is not explicitly cleared or selected prior to clicking the “Accept” button, no change will be made to the respective attribute settings for items in the cell.
      • Formatting settings made via the “Format Cell” dialogue are not reflected in the component preview on the “Project” page; only in output.

   2. Format the text of all items within all the cells of a selected row.

      1. Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Format Row” button at lower-left of the grid to view/edit row settings.

         1. Specify formatting settings, as required.

         2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

4. Specify display settings for the text of specific items within selected cells.

   1. Click the “Format Items” tab.

   2. Click the cell of the “Mapping” grid that contains the mapped item(s).

      

      The column and row number of the selected cell are shown at the top of the “Selected Column Detail” section. The contents of the cell display in the pane at left, in left-to-right order from top-to-bottom.

      

   3. Select a mapped item from the pane at left of the “Selected Column Detail” section.

      1. Set the item’s formatting options via the pane at right (these will vary, based on the type of item selected).

         1. Custom Data Point

         2. Custom Tag

            1. (there are no formatting options for custom tag items, however a read-only “Tag Description” text box displays the “Description” value associated with the selected custom tag, as defined via the “Custom Tags” page)

         3. Numeric (not including “Exchange Rate”-type items)

            1. Use the “Format” drop-down list to specify the format of the numeric value. (click to see option information)

               • The check box is cleared by default for newly-added data points.
               • The maximum character limit for the “Display Text” field is 64.
               • When the check box is cleared, the specified “Display Text” value is retained (for possible future use), however the custom zero display feature is turned off for the currently-selected item; the specified “Zero Display” value will be used in output.

            4. Use the “Rounded to Zero Display” drop-down list to specify the value to display if the data point’s raw value was rounded to zero. (click to see option information)

               • When the check box is cleared, the specified “Display Text” value is retained (for possible future use), however the custom rounded display feature is turned off for the currently-selected item; the specified “Rounded to Zero Display” value will be used in output.

            6. Use the “Negative Display” drop-down list to specify the format of the numeric value if the data point’s raw value is negative. (click to see option information)

            7. Select the “Display positive/negative values as negative/positive” check box to cause the sign of the value displayed in project preview and output to be “flipped” (similar to multiplying the value by negative 1).

               • The check box is cleared by default for newly-added data points.

               • Positive values will be displayed as negative.

                 “100,000” becomes “(100,000)”

               • Negative values will be displayed as positive.

                 “(100,000)” becomes “100,000”

               • When displaying a value as negative the specified “Negative Display” setting is used.

                 • If the “Display as Positive” option is specified, all values are displayed as positive, regardless of whether or not the “Display positive/negative values as negative/positive” check box is selected.
               • This functionality impacts the display of data point values only; it does not alter any calculations within Arc Suite.

            8. For “Fund”-type data points mapped to the “Column Header” node, use the “Rounding” drop-down list to specify the rounding level of the number. (click to see option information)

For data points mapped to the “Column Header” node in a column that is not part of a repeat group, select the “Repeat for all funds in spread” check box to cause the evaluated value of the data point for each fund in the spread to display, with the specific punctuation you designate between each.                1. Use the “Separator” text box to specify the value to insert between all evaluated data points for each fund, except the last two.

                  • The default value for the text box when a numeric data point is mapped is “, ” (“<comma><space>”).
                  • The maximum character length for the text box value is “8”.
                  • If only two funds exist, the value is not inserted/displayed at all.
                  • If only one fund exists, the value is not inserted/displayed at all.

               2. Use the “Last Separator” text box to specify the value to insert between the evaluated data points for the last two funds.

                  • The default value for the text box when a numeric data point is mapped is “ and ” (“<space>and<space>”).
                  • The maximum character length for the text box value is “8”.
                  • If only two funds exist, the value is inserted between the evaluated data points for those two funds.
                  • If only one fund exists, the value is not inserted/displayed at all.

               3. Use the “Post Text” text box to specify the value to insert after the evaluated data point for the last fund.

                  • The default value for the text box when a numeric data point is mapped is “, respectively” (“<comma><space>respectively”).
                  • The maximum character length for the text box value is “128”.
                  • If only one fund exists, the value is not inserted/displayed at all.

               4. Select the “Include currency symbol” check box to cause the appropriate currency symbol to display with the value(s).

                  • The check box is selected by default when the “Repeat for all funds in spread” check box is selected.
                  • The currency symbol displayed for each fund’s evaluated data point is the “Symbol” value designated for the currency that is associated with each respective fund (via the “Fund Information” tab of the “Funds” page).

               A read-only text string is displayed beneath the “Include currency symbol” check box, which dynamically reflects the settings you designate for the “Separator”, “Last Separator”, “Post Text” and “Include currency symbol” controls.

               $100, $200, $300 and $400, respectively

               • This functionality applies for financial statements that reside in a chapter or section having a “Chapter/Fund Behavior” setting of “All Funds - Single”.
               • The order of the funds listed will match the order specified via the “Funds” tab of the “Project Templates” page (which is also the order of funds displayed in the output’s columns).
               • Rounding of the data points will be according to the “Rounding Level” setting specified on the “Settings” tab of the “Financial Workbook Templates” page.
               • Multiple languages are supported only for project templates whose “Multi-Language Behavior” setting is set to “Separate outputs for each language”.

         4. Text

            1. Use the “Format” drop-down list to specify the format of the text string. (click to see option information)

               Option	Details
               “Proper”	Converts text values that contain one or more lower-case characters to proper case, but will not alter any values that contain ALL upper-case characters.
               “Uppercase”	Displays the text value in upper-case.

            2. Use the “Language” drop-down list to specify the language of the text string.

               The “Language” drop-down list is only displayed when all of the following conditions are met.

               • A text string item that is “multi-language compatible” (i.e., “Caption” and “Footnote Text”) is selected.
               • The template has at least two languages specified (via the “Language” sub-tab of the “Financial Statement Templates” tab of the “Financial Workbook Templates” page).
               • The “Single statement - multiple languages on one statement” option is set for the statement node of the “Financial Statement Template Output Settings” page.

         5. Boolean

            1. Use the “Format” drop-down list to specify the format of the Boolean value. (click to see option information)

               “12:00 AM” is specified by default when an item is mapped.

            10. Use the “Time Zone” drop-down list to designate the time zone associated with the specified time.

                “(GMT) Dublin, Edinburgh, Lisbon, London” is specified by default when an item is mapped.

         10. Display Note Reference or Display Page Reference

             1. Specify one or more unique reference ID values for the page or note reference, then provide a pattern for the reference’s display.

                

                1. Add the reference’s ID value(s) in the “Index ID(s)” text box.

                   • The maximum character length for the text box value is 1024.

                   • Only the following types of characters may be entered in the text box:

                     • Lowercase letters (i.e., “a” to “z”)
                     • Numbers
                     • Commas
                   • If no “Index ID(s)” value is specified in the text box, no string will be inserted/displayed at all in output.

                2. For each language associated with the template, provide the text string that will display before the collection of evaluated page or note numbers in the “Text Before” column of the grid.

                   • The maximum character length for the text box value is 128.

                3. Provide the text string that will display after the collection of evaluated page or note numbers in the “Text After” column of the grid.

                   • The maximum character length for the text box value is 128.

                4. Specify the text string that will separate each evaluated page or note number in the “Separator” column of the grid.

                   • The default value for the text box is “, ” (“<comma><space>”).
                   • The maximum character length for the text box value is 8.
                   • If only one value is specified in the “Index ID(s)” text box, the “Separator” value is not inserted/displayed at all in output.

                • In project output, the “Text Before” field value will display first, followed by the “Index ID(s)” value(s), separated by the “Separator” value. After the last “Index ID(s)” value, the “Text After” field value will display. When assembling the string, Arc Suite will not insert any extra spaces; if you want one or more spaces to display, you must enter the space(s) in the “Text Before”, “Text After”, and/or “Separator” fields, as appropriate.

      2. Specify the style and position of a selected item.

         1. Select an item within the cell, and then click the “Format Item” button at lower-left of the pane to view/edit item settings.

            The “Format Item” dialogue displays.

            

            1. Specify formatting settings, as required.

            2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

            • When editing an item whose style formatting has been set previously (whether via the “Format Item”, “Format Cell”, “Format Row” or “Format Column” dialogues), the check box state of each setting will reflect the current respective settings of the item.
            • When editing an item whose position formatting has been set previously via the “Format Item” dialogue, the option button selection will reflect the current position setting of the item.
            • Formatting settings made via the “Format Item” dialogue are not reflected in the component preview on the “Project” page; only in output.
      3. Move a selected item up or down (left or right) using the “Move item up” and “Move item down” buttons   at lower-left of the pane.
      4. Remove selected items from the column via the “Remove item” button at lower-left of the pane.

5. Opt to suppress the selected item from the financial preview and in project output, if desired, based on certain conditions.

   1. Click the “Suppression” tab.

      

      1. Specify suppression options for standard statement line items (i.e., nodes other than those of type “Column Header”, “Footnote Legend” or “Footnote”).

         1. Select the “Zero Suppress” check box to suppress the selected item based on whether the value of the line item is zero (“0”).

            1. Identify which “Value Type” to analyze (“Footed”, “Raw” or “Rounded”) when the zero suppression logic is run.

            • “Zero Suppress” functionality works on single- and multiple-row choices (e.g., if one class out of five is zero, the classes/rows with a zero balance will be suppressed in statement preview and output).
            • For standard-orientation templates, zero suppression is always based on the “Financial” values (including “N” and “Horizontal Total 1” … “N” ).

            • For standard-orientation templates, if both the “Zero Suppress” and “Advanced suppression” check boxes are selected, zero suppression logic runs first.

              • If the line item is suppressed based on zero suppression logic, the advanced suppression logic will not run at all.
              • If the line item is not suppressed based on zero suppression logic, the advanced suppression logic will run.
            • For pivoted-orientation templates, suppression logic looks at the repeat groups in the statement to determine if at least one value exists for the fund, period and/or class based on the fund being output. The suppression settings look at the values that will be displayed in output when suppressing.

         2. In standard-orientation templates, select the “Advanced suppression” check box to define one or more custom conditions under which the selected item will be suppressed.

            The “Advanced suppression” label becomes a clickable blue link.

            

            1. Click the link to define a conditional formula.

               The “Advanced Suppression” dialogue displays.

               

               1. Provide a name for the formula in the “Name” text box.

               2. Specify the desired “Apply To” setting.

                  1. “All funds on all spreads”

                     1. Advanced suppression applies when all funds on all spreads meet the formula criteria.
                     2. If the statement does not contain spreads, then advanced suppression settings apply when any fund on the statement meets the formula criteria.

                  2. “All funds on each spread” (default selection when the dialogue is opened)

         3. For items of type “Section Total” or “Sub-Section Total” in standard-orientation templates, select the “Suppress Section/Sub-Section Total if only 1 item appears in output” check box to suppress the total line in statement output if only one item displays in the section/sub-section.

            The check box is not displayed for the “Total Net Assets (A-L)”, “Total Net Assets (Capital)” or “Net Investment Income” item is selected (even though these are of type “Section Total”).

         4. For items of type “Section Total” in pivoted-orientation templates, select the “Suppress Section/Sub-Section Total if only 1 item appears in output” check box to suppress the total line in statement output if only one item displays in the section.

            The check box is not displayed for the “Total Net Assets (A-L)”, “Total Net Assets (Capital)” or “Net Investment Income” item is selected (even though these are of type “Section Total”).

      2. Specify suppression options for the “Column Header” item in standard-orientation templates.

         1. Select the “Suppress column header row for account period type(s)” check box, and then select one or more of the account period type check boxes (i.e., “Annual”, “Semi-Annual”, “Quarterly” and “Monthly”) to suppress the column header in statement output for projects associated with the account period type(s) represented by the selected check box(es).

      This tab is enabled when any node is selected in the statement structure tree, except nodes of type “Statement”, “Footnote Legend” or “Footnote”.

6. Create one or more repeat groups for statement items, as required.

   1. Click the “Add/Edit repeat group” link beneath the “Mapping” grid.

      The “Add/Edit Repeat Group” dialogue displays.

      1. Specify the “Repeat Group Type”.

         • Standard-orientation statement templates

           • “Class by Fund”

             • Repeat functionality is based on the class inception date and the fund inception date.

             • Classes will only display in the repeat group when the following criteria are met.

               • The associated base class is on the financial statement template AND
               • The fund has a class assigned to that base class AND
               • The class is “Active” AND
               • The fund is “Active” AND
               • The account period is after the inception date of the class

           • “Class by Period”

             • Repeat functionality is based on the class inception date and the fund inception date.

               • When repeating, since each class may have a different inception date, each class may have a different number of columns that repeat.

             • Classes will only display in the repeat group when the following criteria are met.

               • The associated base class is on the financial statement template AND
               • The fund has a class assigned to that base class AND
               • The class is “Active” AND
               • The fund is “Active” AND
               • The account period is after the inception date of the class

           • “Fund by Class”

             • Repeat functionality is based on the class inception date and the fund inception date.

             • Classes will only display in the repeat group when the following criteria are met.

               When repeating for multiple funds on the same statement, the classes that display could be different for each fund.

               • The associated base class is on the financial statement template AND
               • The fund has a class assigned to that base class AND
               • The class is “Active” AND
               • The fund is “Active” AND
               • The account period is after the inception date of the class

           • “Fund by Period”

             • Repeat functionality is based on the fund inception date and the class inception date.

               • The inception date of at least one class associated with the fund must be valid for the fund to repeat.
               • When repeating for multiple funds, since each fund may have a different inception date, each fund may have a different number of columns that repeat.

             • Account periods will only display in the repeat group when the following criteria are met.

               • The account period is after the inception date of the fund AND
               • The associated fund is on the financial statement template AND
               • The fund is “Active”

           • “Period by Class”

             • Repeat functionality is based on the class inception date and the fund inception date.

               • When repeating, since each class may have a different inception date, each class may have a different number of columns that repeat.

             • Classes will only display in the repeat group when the following criteria are met.

               • The associated base class is on the financial statement template AND
               • The fund has a class assigned to that base class AND
               • The class is “Active” AND
               • The fund is “Active” AND
               • The account period is after the inception date of the class

           • “Period by Currency”

             • This repeat group selection is not available for statement templates of type “Multiple Column”; if a repeat group of this type is applied to a column in a linked “Multiple Column” calculation sheet, a value of “0” is returned in statement output.

             • Values will only be returned for the repeat group when the items mapped come from a trial balance or from a “Currency”-type calculation sheet. Otherwise, “0” or unpredictable results will be returned.

             • Currencies can be sorted by either of the following means:

               • “Currency Code” (default option)

                 • When this option is selected, currencies will sort in ascending order by the currency code value.

               • “Currency Caption”

                 • When this option is selected, currencies will sort in ascending order by the currency caption value.

             • This repeat group will repeat for all currencies specified (i.e., all currencies, the Top “N” currencies based on a given property, or currencies greater than a certain percentage), that have values for the period(s) displayed.

               • This repeat group will exclude the fund’s currency during the repeat if the “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” option was enabled in the calculation sheet.

                 This could be handled via a zero suppress, just like any other currency without a value.

               • Calculation sheets will display all currencies that have a balance in one of the line items in the calculation sheet. The logic will look at the GL, holdings and other calculation sheets items in the formula to determine this.
               • Financial statement output will display all the currencies shown in the calculation sheet items/totals mapped to the statement. Currencies with a zero balance will not display in statement preview/output and will be suppressed.
               • If a financial statement template only pulls values from one currency calculation sheet, the currencies that display on the calculation sheet and the financial statement template will be the same (unless the financial statement template is only showing the Top “N” or > percentage).
               • The base currency of the fund will be suppressed from the calculation sheet and financial statement preview when the “Suppress base currency from repeat and total” option is enabled in the calculation sheet.

           • “Period by Fund”

             • Repeat functionality is based on the fund inception date and the class inception date.

               • The inception date of at least one class associated with the fund must be valid for the fund to repeat.
               • When repeating for multiple funds, since each fund may have a different inception date, each fund may have a different number of columns that repeat.

             • Funds will only display in the repeat group when the following criteria are met.

               • The account period is after the inception date of the fund AND
               • The associated fund is on the financial statement template AND
               • The fund is “Active”

         • Pivoted-orientation statement templates

           • “Repeat by Class”

           • “Repeat by Currency”

           • “Repeat by Fund”

           • “Repeat by Period”

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

         • For standard-orientation statement templates, a repeat group box of the specified type is added above Column 1 by default, but may be subsequently adjusted to apply to another single column or multiple contiguous columns.
         • For pivoted-orientation statement templates, a repeat group box of the specified type is added to the first row of the “Items” section of the grid by default, but may be subsequently adjusted to apply to another single row or multiple contiguous rows within the “Items” section of the grid.

      For standard-orientation statement templates, the repeat group is defined for the statement template’s “Column Header” node, and settings are applied to all other line items in the statement structure, with the exception of footnote legends and footnote items. Any adjustments to the repeat group’s settings must be made via the “Column Header” node.

   2. Click and drag the outer corners of the repeat group box to specify the column(s) (standard orientation) or the row(s) (pivoted orientation) the repeat group encompasses.

   If you want certain rows in a pivoted statement to repeat by fund, then by class, then by account period, apply three repeat groups to the appropriate set of rows:

   

   • The “Fund” repeat group will repeat all the rows within for each fund.
   • The “Class” repeat group will repeat for all the classes within the fund, before moving on to the next fund.
   • The “Account Period” repeat group will repeat for all the account periods within the class, before moving on to the next class.

   The figure below represents the project preview of the pivoted statement template whose settings are described in this example:

   

7. For standard-orientation statement templates, apply horizontal spanning to the “Column Header” node’s repeat group, as required.

   1. Click the cell of the column that the repeat group encompasses in the “Mapping” grid.

      

   2. Specify the span option for the column’s repeat group.

      1. Click the “Format Items” tab.

         

      2. Click the “Span” link at upper-right of the “Selected Column Detail” section on the “Format Items” tab to toggle between the various options available.

         • “(none)”

           • This is the default option for newly-created repeat groups.

         • “By Repeat Group”

         • “All Columns”

   • Horizontal spanning can only be applied to repeat groups that encompass a single column; it cannot be applied to multi-column repeat groups.
   • Specifying a horizontal span option for a column header repeat group allows the column header information to span across multiple columns. Results will display in financial statement preview (“Project” page) and PDF or other output. Follow the steps outlined below to apply horizontal spanning to a column header repeat group.

   

8. For standard-orientation statement templates, opt to define custom output validation settings, as required.

   1. Click the “Project Output Validation Report Settings” link at upper-right of the page.

      A “Project Output Validation Report Settings” group box and associated controls replace the standard “Settings” group box and controls.

      

   2. Add one or more statement checksums.

      1. Click the “Add” button at lower-left of the “Checksums” grid to define a checksum for the statement.

         The “Add/Edit Statement Checksum” dialogue displays.

         

         1. Specify a checksum “Name” and “Description”.

         2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      A maximum of 10 checksums may be defined for any given statement template.

   3. Define each statement checksum.

      1. Select a row in the “Checksums” grid by clicking it once with the left mouse button.

      2. Specify the “Statement total to check” in the “Checksum Definition” section of the page, in association with the selected checksum.

         1. Left-click and hold the appropriate line item in the “Statement Structure” tree view.
         2. Drag-and-drop the item on the “Statement total to check” text box.

         3. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

         Only line items that have not already been specified as another “Statement total to check” (i.e., for another checksum) can be dragged/dropped onto the text box.

      3. Add one or more “Statement items to sum” to define a formula for calculating the specified “Statement total to check”.

         1. Left-click and hold the appropriate line item in the “Statement Structure” tree view.
         2. Drag-and-drop the item on the “Statement items to sum” grid.
         3. If more than one item to sum is added to the grid, specify the appropriate operator for each (i.e., “+”, “-”, “/” or “*”) using the drop-down list in the “Operator” column of the grid for the respective rows.

         Only line items that have not already been added to the “Statement items to sum” grid (for the current or any other checksum) can be dragged/dropped onto the grid.

      You can remove any line item from a given checksum definition, if necessary, by dragging-and-dropping it back onto the “Statement Structure” tree view.

1. Click the “Trial Balance / Calculation Sheet / Extras” drop-down list to specify the source of the section(s)/item(s) you wish to add.

   The components of the specified trial balance definition/calculation sheet display on the tab.

   • You can add specific other components to the financial statement template by specifying the “Extras” selection.

     • Column Header

       • You can only add one column header to the template definition, at the outermost level.

     • Custom Heading (standard-orientation templates only)

       • You can only add one custom heading to the template definition, at the outermost level.

         • When a custom heading is added to the template definition, it displays directly beneath and as a “child” to the statement node, above the “Column Header” item, when present.
         • When a financial statement template is linked to a calculation sheet, a “Custom Heading” node is added by default.

       If a “Custom Heading” node exists, but has no caption settings specified, the caption node/XML will be suppressed in statement output.

     • Custom Section (standard-orientation templates only)

       • You may add as many custom sections as you need to the template definition, under the “Statement” node. The default name for a custom section is “Custom Section”, but you can change to any appropriate name, and any number of custom sections in a template may have the same name.
       • Only calculation sheet items may be added as “children” of a custom section.
       • There is no total line associated with a custom section.
       • There are no numeric values associated with a custom section (only its name).

     • Footnote Legend

       • You can only add one footnote legend to the template definition.

   • All calculation sheets created for the current financial workbook template display in the drop-down list.

     • When you add an item from a calculation sheet to the template definition, its “Class Assignment/Behavior” settings default to those defined for it via the “Calculation Sheets” tab of the “Financial Workbook Templates” page (on the “Add/Edit Calculation Sheet Item” dialogue).

   • All trial balance definitions created for the current financial workbook template display in the drop-down list (standard-orientation templates only).

     • When you add an item from a trial balance to the template definition, its “Class Assignment/Behavior” settings default to “Single row/column”, with a “Base Class” selection of “All”.

The “Edit Item Details” dialogue displays.

1. For standard-orientation template sections, sub-sections or items, specify how class information will be displayed in statement output via the “Class Assignment/Behavior” tab.

   1. Select the “Single Row” option to display a single row for a specific class.

      1. Designate the corresponding base class using the “Base Class” drop-down list.
   2. Select the “Repeat by Class” option to display multiple sections representing each class on the financial statement.

2. For standard-orientation templates, use the “Sorting” tab to control the sort order of a section, sub-section or item.

   1. Section or sub-section

      The “Sorting” tab is enabled only when a trial balance section, trial balance sub-section or calculation sheet section is selected (not a custom section, trial balance section total, trial balance sub-section total or calculation sheet section total).

      1. Specify a “Sort By” value.

         • Select the “Default” option to sort the financial statement according to the layout specified in the financial statement template.

         • Select the “Caption” option to sort based on captions.

           • Selecting the this option for a section with only one or more items contained therein causes the financial statement to sort by the item caption provided in the financial statement template.
           • Selecting this option for a section with one or more sub-sections contained therein causes the financial statement to sort by the sub-section header caption provided in the financial statement template.
           • Selecting this option for a section with both sub-sections and items contained therein causes the financial statement to sort by both the sub-section and item captions.

         • Select the “Value” option to sort the statement by the item value.

           • Spreads sort by the item value of the first fund that appears in the spread.
           • Sections containing sub-sections sort based on the sub-section total value.
      2. Designate a “Sort Direction” of “Ascending” or “Descending”.
   2. Item

      1. Select the “Custom sort override - Use default sort” check box to exclude the item from the designated sort and identify the position where the items should be displayed within its containing section or sub-section.

         1. Indicate whether the item will “Show at top” or “Show at bottom” of other items in the section/sub-section that are participating in the custom sort.

         If multiple items within the section/sub-section have this option selected, those items will be sorted relative to one another based on their order in the financial statement template, as if they were part of the default sort.

3. For footnote legends of standard- or pivoted-orientation templates, use the controls on the dialogue to specify auto-symbol generation settings.

   1. Designate the “Auto Symbol Pattern” (e.g., “1,2,3”; “a,b,c”; “(a),(b),(c)”; etc.) for footnotes that participate in auto symbol generation.

      By default, footnotes added to a footnote library will participate in auto symbol generation.

   2. Use the “Auto Symbol Order” drop-down list to choose the basis upon which footnotes that participate in auto-symbol generation will be ordered (i.e., “By Occurrence in Statement” or “Alphabetical by Footnote Symbol”).

   3. As required, provide a “Footnote Separator” for both footnotes that do and do not participate in auto symbol generation.

      A sample of the expected footnote display is shown in the “Footnote Preview” text box, based on the specified separator value and the currently-selected “Auto Symbol Pattern”.

      • The value specified, if any, is used to separate footnote symbols when multiple footnotes exist for any given statement item.
      • The default value for newly-created footnote legend items is “,” (<comma>).
      • Any character can be entered in the text box, including a space.
      • The maximum character length for the text box value is 3.
   4. Designate the “Placement” (i.e., “Above Auto Symbol Footnotes” or “Below Auto Symbol Footnotes”) for footnotes that do not participate in auto-symbol generation.
