Defining Tabular Data Template Output Settings

Intro

You can specify what information displays in generated output for tables on the “Tabular Data Template Output Settings” page.

After mapping literal values (“$”, “€”, “%”, “‡”, etc.), financial workbook items and fund and account period data points to table cells, you can define how each bit of information is to be formatted (date/time display, negative and zero value display, number of decimals, text casing, etc.). You can also control whether data points should evaluate in project output with respect to a specific fund, or dynamically, according to the fund(s) reported on.

Tasks

    1. Expand the ArcFiling “Structure Templates” .

      1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

      2. Select “ArcFiling” from the .

    4. Click the “Output Settings” at lower-right of the “Detail” pane to view/edit settings that affect the display and behavior of table information in output.

      • You can also open the “Tabular Data Template Output Settings” page directly by clicking the corresponding item in the “Structure Templates” menu section on the “Administration” tab .
      • Click the “Refresh data” button at lower-right of the pane to refresh content to reflect any changes made to the output settings’ associated template.

    5. If more than one language is associated with the tabular data template, specify .

      1. Click the “Multiple Language Options” at upper-right of the “Detail” pane to indicate whether the layout will be the same or different for each language.
        1. Select the “Multiple Statements - same layout for all languages” option (default) if you want all cell mappings, span areas, row and column positions and item formatting to be applied to all languages added to the tabular data template.
        2. Select the “Multiple statements - different layout for each supported language” option if you want cell mappings, span areas, row and column positions and item formatting specified for the selected language to apply only to that language.

        3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    6. If necessary, adjust the “Number of Rows” and “Number of Columns” for the table that displays in the “Detail” at right of the page, using the slider controls located along the top and right side of the table.
      • The number of rows and columns set via the “Tabular Data Template Output Settings” page will be reflected in the table’s associated template (accessed via the “Tabular Data Templates” page).
      • You can create table structures with up to 500 rows and 20 columns.
    7. If any row in the table that displays in the “Detail” pane at right of the page represents a heading, select the “Header Row” check box for that row.

    8. Add data points, custom tags and standard (e.g., “$”, “%”, “€”, “£”, etc.) or custom literal values to the .

      1. Add data points and literal values by them from their respective panes on the tabs at the bottom of the page.

      2. Add custom tags via the associated at lower-left of the grid.

        1. Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Insert custom tag” to define the custom tag settings.

          1. Specify the tag to insert via the “Custom Tag” drop-down list.

          2. If the specified custom tag has the “Additional Fixed Options” check box selected in the Custom Tags library, select one of the available options via the “Additional Fixed Option” drop-down list (the drop-down list is disabled if no fixed options are defined for the selected tag).

          3. If the specified custom tag has the “Additional Arguments” check box selected in the Custom Tags library, enter the appropriate argument(s) in the “Additional Argument(s)” text box.

            For a custom tag requiring additional arguments, it is helpful to provide definitions and/or examples of argument values in the “Description” field when creating/editing the tag via the “Custom Tags” page. This offers some guidance to any user who insert the tag in a text editor.

          4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

      • If multiple items are added to any given cell, new items are appended by default to the right of existing items in the cell. Items can be removed from cells, and the order of items in the cell can be adjusted, using the controls on the “Format Items” tab (see below).
      • To create a custom literal item, type the desired text in the box on the right of the “Literals” tab. The text for the “{custom}” item at the top of the “Literals” pane reflects the text you enter, and that item can be dragged-and-dropped to the appropriate cell of your table to insert the custom literal.
      • Hard returns, soft returns, tabs and spaces can also be added to cells of the table. Items representing these can be found at the end of the list of literals provided.
      • When “Custom Data Point” is the specified data point type, a “Library” drop-down list displays through which you can designate the data point library containing the desired data points to map. Only those libraries associated with the same complex as the current template are available for selection.
    9. At any point during the mapping process, you can move entire rows and columns within the grid up/down/left/right by clicking the header of the desired row/column to select it, and then clicking the positioning buttons     appropriately.

    10. You can merge cells in the grid across columns and/or rows by selecting the cell representing the upper-left cell of the range, and then clicking the “Span cells” beneath the grid.

      Typically, this functionality is used to merge top row columns to create a table header that spans all columns within a table.

      1. Specify the “Number of Columns to Span” using the corresponding spinner control on the dialogue.
      2. Specify the “Number of Rows to Span” using the corresponding spinner control on the dialogue.

      3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

        • Any data that was in the upper-left (start) cell of the specified span area will be displayed in the span area text box of the grid; any data in any other cells of the span area range will be deleted.
        • Multiple span areas may exist within a table, but span areas cannot overlap.
        • All row and column positioning buttons are disabled when at least one span area exists in a given template’s grid.

      Click the “Remove Span” button beneath the grid to remove any selected span area.

    11. Indicate the cell style and (e.g., bold, italic, underline, color, alignment, etc.) to the text of mapped items.

      1. Format the within a selected cell.

        Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Format Cell” at lower-left of the grid to view/edit cell settings.

            • All items in the currently-selected cell have the attribute selected.

          • Mixed/Indeterminate

            • Some items in the currently-selected cell have the attribute cleared and some have the attribute selected (distinct settings were specified via the “Format Item” dialogue).
            • If the check box is not explicitly cleared or selected prior to clicking the “Accept” button, no change will be made to the respective attribute settings for items in the cell.
        • Formatting settings made via the “Format Cell” dialogue are not reflected in the component preview on the “Project” page; only in output.

      2. Format the within all the cells of a selected row.

        1. Select a cell in the grid, and then click the “Format Row” at lower-left of the grid to view/edit row settings.

    12. Specify of specific items within selected cells.

      1. Click the “Format Items” tab.

            3. Select the “Custom Zero Display” to specify a custom value to display if the data point’s raw value is zero.

              • The check box is cleared by default for newly-added data points.
              • The maximum character limit for the “Display Text” field is 64.
              • When the check box is cleared, the specified “Display Text” value is retained (for possible future use), however the custom zero display feature is turned off for the currently-selected item; the specified “Zero Display” value will be used in output.

            4. Use the “Negative Display” drop-down list to specify the format of the numeric value if the data point’s raw value is negative. ()

            5. Select the “Display positive/negative values as negative/positive” to cause the sign of the value displayed in project preview and output to be “flipped” (similar to multiplying the value by negative 1).
              • The check box is cleared by default for newly-added data points.

              • Positive values will be displayed as negative.

              • Negative values will be displayed as positive.

              • When displaying a value as negative the specified “Negative Display” setting is used.

                • If the “Display as Positive” option is specified, all values are displayed as positive, regardless of whether or not the “Display positive/negative values as negative/positive” check box is selected.
              • This functionality impacts the display of data point values only; it does not alter any calculations within Arc Suite.

            6. For items mapped from the “Fund” or “Period” list boxes on the “Data Points” tab, or items mapped from the “Financial Workbook” tab, use the “Fund Selection Behavior” drop-down list to indicate whether data displayed in project preview/output will be from an auto-determined fund or from a specific fund.

              1. If you select the “Specify Fund” option, choose the specific fund using the “Fund” drop-down list that displays.

                • To provide a French caption, click the “Multiple Language Options” link and change the language in the drop-down list.

              The output settings grid only displays the text that was mapped from the “Literals” tab, not the distinct captions specified on the “Format Items” tab.

              Displays an ordinal Suffix only. (English only)

              “d-M-yy”

              Removes the leading zero from the numeric Day and Month, and displays a 2-digit Year.

              “d-M-yyyy”

              Removes the leading zero from the numeric Day and Month, and displays a 4-digit Year.

              “d-M”

              Displays a numeric Day and Month only, removing the leading zero from each.

      • You can also open the “Tabular Data Template Output Settings” page directly by clicking the corresponding item in the “Structure Templates” menu section on the “Administration” tab .
      • Click the “Refresh data” button at lower-right of the pane to refresh content to reflect any changes made to the output settings’ associated template.

        • You can create table structures with up to 500 rows and 20 columns.
      3. If any row in the table that displays in the “Detail” pane at right of the page represents a heading, select the “Header Row” check box for that row.

      4. Add data points, custom tags and standard (e.g., “$”, “%”, “€”, “£”, etc.) or custom literal values to the .

            3. If the specified custom tag has the “Additional Arguments” check box selected in the Custom Tags library, enter the appropriate argument(s) in the “Additional Argument(s)” text box.

              For a custom tag requiring additional arguments, it is helpful to provide definitions and/or examples of argument values in the “Description” field when creating/editing the tag via the “Custom Tags” page. This offers some guidance to any user who insert the tag in a text editor.

            4. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

        • If multiple items are added to any given cell, new items are appended by default to the right of existing items in the cell. Items can be removed from cells, and the order of items in the cell can be adjusted, using the controls on the “Format Items” tab (see below).
        • To create a custom literal item, type the desired text in the box on the right of the “Literals” tab. The text for the “{custom}” item at the top of the “Literals” pane reflects the text you enter, and that item can be dragged-and-dropped to the appropriate cell of your table to insert the custom literal.
        • Hard returns, soft returns, tabs and spaces can also be added to cells of the table. Items representing these can be found at the end of the list of literals provided.
        • When “Custom Data Point” is the specified data point type, a “Library” drop-down list displays through which you can designate the data point library containing the desired data points to map. Only those libraries associated with the same complex as the current template are available for selection.
      5. At any point during the mapping process, you can move entire rows and columns within the grid up/down/left/right by clicking the header of the desired row/column to select it, and then clicking the positioning buttons     appropriately.

      6. You can merge cells in the grid across columns and/or rows by selecting the cell representing the upper-left cell of the range, and then clicking the “Span cells” beneath the grid.

        Typically, this functionality is used to merge top row columns to create a table header that spans all columns within a table.

        1. Specify the “Number of Columns to Span” using the corresponding spinner control on the dialogue.

        3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

          • Any data that was in the upper-left (start) cell of the specified span area will be displayed in the span area text box of the grid; any data in any other cells of the span area range will be deleted.

          • All row and column positioning buttons are disabled when at least one span area exists in a given template’s grid.

        Available table types are limited to those designated as “active” in association with the current complex, via the Table Styles library.

    5. Define the “Number of Rows” and “Number of Columns” for the table in the in the “Detail” pane at right of the page (each has a default value of “1”).

      You can specify a maximum of “500” rows and “20” columns.

      1. For Form N-MFP Web posting output, set the values to “4” rows “1” column.

    6. Specify the you wish the tabular data template to support.
      1. Click the “Languages” tab in the lower portion of the page.

      2. Click the “Add” at lower-left of the tab to add a language.

        1. Click the “Language” drop-down list to specify a language that the tabular data template will support.

          • Languages available for selection are limited to those that have been defined via the “Languages” page in the Environment Administration area of Arc Suite.
          • You can add multiple languages and different captioning for each language.
          • The default language for all existing complexes is “English (U.S.)” and is added to the complex on the “Funds” page in the Environment Administration area.

        2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    A listing of records, with certain associated information, can be exported from the application database to any of several different file formats (DOC, HTM, XML, etc.). Follow the steps below to perform a data export.

    1. Click the “Export data” at lower-right of the pane where existing items are listed to export data from the grid.

      1. Select the next to the file format to which you’d like the data saved.

      2. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

    1. To view project output or a report returned from the document processing service, or the status of filings submitted to the SEC, open the Output Queue by clicking the “Output Queue” button at far upper-right of the screen.

    3. Click the “View Output” at right of the document you wish to view to open or save it.

      2. Click “Save” to save the document to a local or network drive, for viewing by you or others at a later time.

    4. Click the “View Message” at right of the document whose output message you wish to view.

      1. You can select the text of the message by striking “Ctrl + a” on your keyboard, and then copy it to your Windows keyboard by striking “Ctrl + c”.
      2. Click the “Cancel” button at lower-right of the dialogue to close it.

    5. Click the “Save Output” at right of a document if you simply wish to save it.

      1. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue once the document has downloaded in order to save it to a local or network drive, for viewing by you or others at a later time.
      2. Click the “Cancel” button at lower-right of the dialogue to close it without saving the document.

Defining Tabular Data Template Output Settings
