Managing Custom Data Point Libraries

Intro

Custom data point libraries contain conditional text definitions that can be referenced in other areas of Arc Suite (e.g., text snippets, footnote text, tables, portfolio and financial statement line item content, etc.). Each custom data point library is identified with a specific complex.

You can add a custom data point library and review/edit existing libraries and their associated data point definitions on the “Custom Data Point Libraries” page.

Tasks

• Adding a custom data point library to the database

  1. Expand the ArcReporting “Output Libraries” menu.

     1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

     2. Select “ArcReporting” from the components list.

        

     3. Click the “Administration” tab at lower-left of the screen.

        

     4. Click the “Output Libraries” menu to view available items.

  2. Click the “Custom Data Point Libraries” item.

     The “Custom Data Point Libraries” page displays.

  3. Click the “Add” button at lower-right of the page.

     A new, blank row displays in the “Listing” pane at left of the page.

  4. Click the “Complex” drop-down list to specify the complex with which the new custom data point library will be associated.
  5. Enter a “Library Name” and “Description” for the new image library, either in the cells of the new row at left of the page, or in the fields of the “Detail” pane at right.

  6. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

• Adding a custom data point to a custom data point library

  1. Expand the ArcReporting “Output Libraries” menu.

     1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

     2. Select “ArcReporting” from the components list.

        

     3. Click the “Administration” tab at lower-left of the screen.

        

     4. Click the “Output Libraries” menu to view available items.

  2. Click the “Custom Data Point Libraries” item.

     The “Custom Data Point Libraries” page displays.

  3. Select the desired item from the “Listing” pane at left of the page.

     Existing data points in the selected library are listed in the grid in the lower portion of the “Detail” pane.

  4. Click the “Add” button at lower-left of the “Detail” pane to define and add a data point to the library.

     The “Add/Edit Custom Data Point” dialogue displays.

     1. Provide a unique “Name” for the data point.

     2. Specify the custom data point “Type” and associated properties.

        1. “Account Period”

           1. Designate the specific account period “Item” value.
           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

        2. “Ancillary Fund Information”

           1. Designate the specific fund information “Item” value.
           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

        3. “Calculation Sheet”

           1. Designate the specific “Financial Workbook Template”, “Calculation Sheet”, “Item” and “Base Class”.

              • Options will be limited to entities belonging to the complex with which the custom data point library is associated.
              • If a multi-column calculation sheet is specified, also designate the specific “field” whose data will be used.
           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Column” section of the dialogue.

        4. “Class Data Point”

           1. Designate the specific class data point “Item” value and “Base Class”.
           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

        5. “Conditional Value”

           1. Define the data point’s conditional formula in the “Formula” grid on the dialogue.

              Custom data points with conditional formulas based on account period be can be added directly to the “Mapping” grid of the “Financial Statement Template Output Settings” page.

              • When you specify “Custom Data Point” as the data point “Type”, a “Library” drop-down list is displayed, by means of which you can choose which library’s data point(s) to assign to the statement.

                

              • You can drag the desired data point(s) to the appropriate statement column(s).

        6. “Exchange Rate”

           1. Designate the specific exchange rate “Item” value.
           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

        7. “Fund Data Point”

           1. Designate the specific fund data point “Item” value.
           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

        8. “Supplemental Data”

           1. Designate the specific “Financial Workbook Template”, “Item” and “Base Class”.

              Options will be limited to entities belonging to the complex with which the custom data point library is associated.

           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

        9. “Trial Balance Definition”

           1. Designate the specific “Financial Workbook Template”, “Trial Balance Definition”, “Item” and “Base Class”.

              Options will be limited to entities belonging to the complex with which the custom data point library is associated.

           2. Specify appropriate formatting settings in the “Format Item” section of the dialogue.

     3. Click the “Accept” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

  5. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.
