Managing Image Libraries

Intro

An image library contains images such as logos, performance graphs, signatures, etc., that are associated with a given complex and accounting period. The image library itself is associated with a specified production team, such that only members of that team have access to its contents.

You can add an image library to the Arc Suite database and review/edit existing libraries on the “Image Libraries” page. You can also add, update and delete specific images in existing libraries from this page.

A listing of the names and descriptions of images in any given library can be exported in various file formats from this page, as well.

Tasks

• Adding an image library to the database

  1. Expand the ArcFiling “Output Libraries” menu.

     1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

     2. Select “ArcFiling” from the components list.

        

     3. Click the “Administration” tab at lower-left of the screen.

        

     4. Click the “Output Libraries” menu to view available items.

  2. Expand the ArcReporting “Output Libraries” menu.

     1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

     2. Select “ArcReporting” from the components list.

        

     3. Click the “Administration” tab at lower-left of the screen.

        

     4. Click the “Output Libraries” menu to view available items.

  3. Click the “Image Libraries” item.

     The “Image Libraries” page displays.

     

  4. Click the “Add” button at lower-right of the page.

     A new, blank row displays in the “Listing” pane at left of the page.

  5. Click the “Complex” drop-down list to specify the complex with which the new image library will be associated.
  6. Click the “Production Team” drop-down list to specify the production team with which the new image library will be associated.
  7. Enter a “Library Name” and “Description” for the new image library, either in the cells of the new row at left of the page, or in the fields of the “Detail” pane at right.

  8. Click the “Languages” tab at lower-right of the page to add languages to the library if images in the library will be included in projects that support multiple languages, and if one or more images have the potential for being distinct for each language.

     

  9. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.

• Adding an image to an image library

  1. Expand the ArcFiling “Output Libraries” menu.

     1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

     2. Select “ArcFiling” from the components list.

        

     3. Click the “Administration” tab at lower-left of the screen.

        

     4. Click the “Output Libraries” menu to view available items.

  2. Expand the ArcReporting “Output Libraries” menu.

     1. Click the “Home” button at the top of the application window to return to the landing page.

     2. Select “ArcReporting” from the components list.

        

     3. Click the “Administration” tab at lower-left of the screen.

        

     4. Click the “Output Libraries” menu to view available items.

  3. Click the “Image Libraries” item.

     The “Image Libraries” page displays.

     

  4. Select the desired item from the “Listing” pane at left of the page.

  5. Click the “Images” tab at right of the page to add one or more image items to the image library.

     

     1. Click the “Account Period” drop-down list at upper-left of the “Image Properties” section to specify the period with which the new image will be associated.

     2. If the image library supports multiple languages, and if the image should be distinct for each language, use the “anguage” drop-down list at upper-right of the “Image Properties” section to specify the appropriate language.

        If the “Language” drop-down list is disabled, click the “(change)” link beneath it to specify that images be different for each language.

     3. Click the “Add” button at lower-left of the “Detail” pane.

        A new, blank row displays in the grid of the “Images” tab.

     4. Specify an “Image Name”, “Description” and “Image Type” for the new image, either in the cells of the new row at left, or in the fields of the “Image Properties” section at right.

     5. Click the “Upload Image” button to provide an image in association with the currently-selected account period and language.

        The “Open” dialogue displays.

        1. Browse your local or network directories to find and select the desired image.

        2. Click the “Open” button at lower-right of the dialogue.

           The selected image is displayed in the “Image Properties” section.

           The text “Image Preview Unavailable” is displayed in the center of the preview pane if the image you uploaded can’t be displayed due to its file type.

           The following file types are available for preview at present.

           • Joint Photographic Experts Group Image Files (*.jpg;*.jpeg)
           • Portable Network Graphics Image Files (*.png)

        • A specific set of image types is currently supported for upload to Arc Suite image libraries.

          • Bitmap Image Files (*.bmp)
          • Encapsulated PostScript Image Files (*.eps)
          • Graphics Interchange Format Image Files (*.gif)
          • Joint Photographic Experts Group Image Files (*.jpg;*.jpeg)
          • Portable Network Graphics Image Files (*.png)
          • Scalable Vector Graphics Image Files (*.svg)
          • Tagged Image Format Image Files (*.tif;*.tiff)

        • Only Encapsulated PostScript Image Files (*.eps) or Joint Photographic Experts Group Image Files (*.jpg;*.jpeg) can be used if the images will display in ArcReporting project output to PDF and Word formats. Images of these types must also meet certain requirements in terms of their respective settings.

          If a raster image is contained within the Illustrator file, the raster resolution settings apply.

        • You can name uploaded images however you want, but if you will be filing EDGAR HTML with the SEC certain naming guidelines must be followed.

          • Maximum character length is 22.
          • All names must begin with a letter.
          • All letters must be lower case.
          • Only lower case letters, numbers, one dash (-) and one underscore (_) can be used in a name.
          • No spaces are allowed within a name.

  6. Click the “Save” button at lower-right of the page.
